I researched tiny homes for ten years before I purchased a 100 yr old camp on less than two acres. I was 63 at the time and had never even owned a power tool. It took me five months to demolish the unrepairable cabin, but only eighty days to build my tiny house. (I did have help with the electrical and plumbing but have since had to replace about 90% of the plumbing that was installed incorrectly.) I have lived here for eight years now and love it. I love the vibe of "800 acres is all I need," because it shows where your head was at back before you knew what 800 acres actually was. That original post was a multimillionaire flexing their obscene wealth and cosplaying as a subsistence farmer. It is utterly unobtainable and the journey from that original hope to the reality of what you can actually achieve is very grounding and a good watch.

I found myself running at normal or 1.25 and rerunning bits to make sure I could hear all the advice based on experience. Well done on so many levels, the guts to jump ship, the determination to make it work, the fruition of ideas and the sharing in such a constructive way. 👏👏👏👏 to name a few. Re: your query about voice over vs commentary - I adore Martijn Doolaard's story of his cabins in the Italian Alps and, by far, most of each episode now has no voice or background music at all. The scenery in the background and the sounds of the birds and the wind in the trees is decadent. It's so rich. He has a lovely voice and a charming Dutch accent so when he gives explanations of what he's doing it's pleasant but the quiet of the place is part of its' allure so it fills out the experience.

Hey first time seeing one of your video’s. It was brilliant, especially your sage words at the end. I moved to 16 acres in the bush in Australia, from a major city, into a 20ft shipping container. My land cannot have permanent structures on it, as I’m 60 and my back is buggered . I bought two 1980’s portable classrooms in the process of fixing them up. They’re 8m X 3.6 X 3m height I built my deck when I first moved here to 8m X 4m so I have them on an L shape around two sides of the deck. I live 100% off grid, I don’t know why I didn’t do it sooner I own everything don’t have any debt, just save for what I need. My life has never been so peaceful and connected to nature, best thing I’ve ever done. You don’t realise how not being swamped with possessions that you rarely use will set you free. I also lived in London for a couple of years in my late 30’s could have stayed forever as my Grandfather was born in the UK in 1894. But London was way too busy for me. Well done on building the life you want.

I can completely relate to wanting just a low key home that is comfortable but not larger than you need. Our children are almost grown, the two youngest graduate this June, (2025) and we are downsizing! I've been telling my husband for the past 7 years that I just want a small single story, or 1½ story home with 2 bedrooms, 1½ baths and an open kitchen/living area. We don't need a 5 bedroom, 2½ bath home with a huge garage (40'x60' 2 story with an office and apartment.) and 12 acres of land. (Most of the land we don't use, but we definitely pay taxes on it!) So, we sold our property and are looking for our forever Country or Lake Cottage. Ultimately we would love an old place that we can rehab because they just have so much character, but if we can't find what we want then we can build. I have loved the renovations you've done, and think it's amazing that you're following your dream. Happiness is the most important because we only have this life, so we should live our best one! ❤❤❤ *** We also live in the Northeastern USA so could never have a flatter roof like you've built. The amount of snow we get would destroy it!

I hate watching things that they don’t tell you anything but I love learning so I love listening to what you taught and the things that you said, I don’t think you have to show everything like you said some of the stuff you didn’t like you didn’t film and I think that’s great. Do what you like this whole 54 minutes was veryinspiring for me. Thank you so much.

This guy has been hustling his whole life, fair play. And this video pops by the way, the subject is addictive, just got to act and work as well if you want this. I did an exit a few months back, but more a hailmary where I'm living off savings cycling all of Italy and documenting it. All of Scotland next, and see where I get to. Do what this guy did instead.

Congrats on the home and the channel. In regard to voiceovers, you can do a mixture of both for certain types of videos. I think there is a lane where you could do building videos with ambient music. It's oddly satisfying.

Having seen some of your content, I’d say keep the voice overs going, mixed with music. Works great for me 👍
