I so feel for your daughter. I once got very excited about a lovely rental property, spent quite a bit of money on curtains and blinds, moved in, and it just did not feel good, I felt a bit scared at night, lonely, can't put my finger on it. Moved out two months later.

I’m so glad you said you don’t take your cat to the vet. I don’t either. They are inside cats. One is 12 and the other is 8-9. My husband insisted on getting them. He was a cat person, I’m a dog person. My dog died and I didn’t want any more pets. He got these two cats as kittens. Ask me what he did for them? NOTHING! I fed them, I did the litter box, I pet and cuddle them. They wouldn’t have anything to do with him 🙄 My husband died several years ago. You will see me and those two cats in Guinness Book one day. Me in the middle and those two cats on either side living their best life at 32 and 29 years old 🙄Oh well. They get spoiled and pampered.

When you were talking about acceptance and resistance it reminded me of Byron Katie. Her philosophy, and the name of one of her books is "Loving What Is." It's fascinating. I believe at one point she was diagnosed with an eye disease and was told she would go blind. She completely accepted it and was even fascinated and looking forward to how her world would change. It turned out that a treatment came along and she did not go blind. Another time her two adult sons started beating the s*** out of each other and, rather than get worked up about it, she just accepted it and watched it happen. They ended up bonding closer as brothers after they let the aggression out. If I'm not mistaken, I think she also embraced a cancer diagnosis. It's a form of radical loving of what is.

yes, they are tricky to get on, they are a snug fit!! I just get them on and snug and it will be on except for one part. with persistence, just keep pressing that last part of the lid to the container and eventually it will go down. you could also run the lid under hot water to soften it a bit. but the snug fit is worth the effort, because they won't leak!!

Maybe the house felt haunted or there was a peeping Tom next door or Gladys Cravitz lived next door on the other side or naughty kids across the street? Did she give you a good reason besides it just don’t feel right? It had to be a big deal for her to not mind getting out of the lease. Just curious and nosy. She’s old. I didn’t know cats lived that long. Is there such thing as cats years? I can understand why you don’t miss some foods. With the variety you do get must be great.

she doesn't have to have a "good" reason in my opinion. it was good enough for her. yes, there is a thing as cat years. at 17yo my cat is like 84yo!!! she's elderly, senior, but still has some spunk to her!!!
