Interesting little project. Thanks for sharing. That forstner bit extension comes in very handy.

Beautiful work, Matt! 😃 And as you used mineral oil, you can use it even for pepper, for example. Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

Thanks Matt, from all of your videos I have watched so far this gave me the most ideas for green woodworking which is something I haven't tried before, thanks for all the time you put into the video.

Very nice Matt, proof of concept project. I have heard of these shrink pots before, but I have never seen one made. I'll have to give it a go, thanks.

Nice one, Matt! Why not make the lid out of the same stick? You'd have the grain continuing from the pot into the lid, and it would be the same shape all around as well?

Never heard of shrinkpots until end of last year. My wife gave me a Christmas present of place on a Green woodworking course to make one this summer. No power tools and no forstner bits though! A large hand auger to drill it out. Looking forward to it even more now and you have given me some good ideas. Thanks!

That sounds like it will be fun

When you said it needs to dry and shrink, take it in the house, come back in the summer to see if it worked 😅

Hey Matt, Question for you. Is there any reason you're not using the string lights that you installed in a previous video? I've watched it a few times now and I'm thinking of buying some myself to run around the garden but wanted to check that you can put a regular UK 13a plug on it (which it seems like you did on your video) but also how good they are? They seem to be really good in the video where you installed them but I've not noticed you don't seem to be using them so wanted to check first if there was any particular reason?

Lovely little pot that Matt, really cute. What make of Forstner bits do you use? they look nice and sharp unlike mine. I looked at your tools I use page and couldn't find them.
@jamesgameUK Жыл бұрын
Not sure what Matt uses but I recently purchased the Premium Forstner Sawtooth bits from Rutlands and the sawtooth design really works well.

I saw you strip off the perfectly serviceable bark, then add a carved bark pattern. Ironic! Great project, is the shrinkage to enable it to hold liquids, or just be secure?
Жыл бұрын
I think the bark is removed because the moisture needs to be able to escape. The walls need to be thin so the pot van shrink, but not crack.

Thanks, Matt, it's good to try new techniques every once in a while, it keeps things fresh ! BTW do you remember a couple of years ago, I sent you details of the "Lumber Horse" a simple shave horse design made from 2x4s, if you carry on the green woodworking it could be useful, and a good build video too !
