www.originalstr... In this really weird video, Tim talks about having a reflexively strong pelvic floor. He also talks about ways to regain your reflexive pelvic floor. That and he demonstrates kegels! #originalstrength

Great video. I was wondering if you could please produce a video at some point on a routine that would address pelvic floor dysfunction due to excessive tightness. I have chronic pelvic pain syndrome AKA chronic non bacterial prostatitis, and basically I have pain and dysfunction urinating, defecating, and have constant pain and discomfort in my groin, lower abdomen, genitals, and rectum. It seems to be a neuromuscular issue. Medical professionals are absolutely clueless in how to treat it other than with antidepressants and pain killers for the rest of your life. I used to be a keen calisthenics athlete, as well as competitive power lifter, but all of the classic exercises ( deadlift, weighted squat, bench press, etc) flare up the problem, especially where strong abdomen contractions occur. Levels are the absolute worst thing to flare it up.

Hey Robert - I think I can do this. I am also interviewing a coach and pelvic floor specialist next week for the BodCast. She’s brilliant. Don’t give up, brother. This can pass. Feel free to keep in touch and stay tuned.

@@OriginalStrengthSystem That's awesome Tim. Just reading your Restorative Strength and Habitual Strength books - awesome works! I found the Diaphragmatic breathing with the knees in (i.e. a bit like the Egg roll, or wide spread rocking positions) really helps allow the feel of the breath to go all of the way into relaxing the pelvic floor, and also the visualisation of breathing all the way down into your feet effective. Eccentric stretching in the hips also seems to get rid of chronic tension in the pelvic floor. Can't wait to get your take on this Tim. I'm tuned in for it!

Original Strength Would be great to mention how important it is to totally release the pelvic floor on inhalation as most people walk around with a shortened pelvic floor due to chronic tucking of the pelvis. Also lowering the ribs helps create a better piston action with the diaphragm. Check out Julie Wiebe's blog - www.juliewiebept.com

how does the Diaphragm (breathing) activate the pelvic floor.? Do you breathe out as you sit into the rock? Is this suitable for prolapse bladder?

thetaijicentre The diaphragm and pelvic floor are designed to work in concert with one another. If the diaphragm is being used correctly, the pelvic floor follows its rhythm of moving up and down with the diaphragm. There is some detail about this in our book Pressing Reset and we also teach about this in our workshops. As for your question about the prolapsed bladder, please show this video to your doctor and ask his/her opinion. That one is beyond my knowledge and scope of practice. Thank you so much for watching and for reaching out to us. Please feel free to keep in touch and let us know how you are doing.

Thank- you i have now got this book on my kindle. The breathing reset vid also mentioned the relationship to pelvic floor but neither explains the action of the pelvic floor - So am hoping for further detail in "PR" I am familiar with "D" breathing. Is the PF movement u refer too natural or is it "consciously" moved when D breathing? I e is it expanding and contracting simply because the muscles are all linked or is there effort /focus required to move the P F group too during D breathing (I'm assuming that all the muscles are already "flexible"). Or Are you equating diaphragm breathing as belly expanding with pelvic floor contracting consciously at that moment? BTW re prolapse..Dr just automatic say surgery ....however I believe that the pelvic floor can be trained to reduce the load that has produced the herniation dating from, or soon after, birthing. I am trying to avoid surgery (as it is not particularly successful ). I need to understand the load and to distribute it better, and notwithstanding that surgery may still be required in long term., the healthier the PF is the better the outcome from surgery i 'd think.

thetaijicentre Hey! So the pelvic floor and the diaphragm are neurologically connected. When the diaphragm expands downward, so does the pelvic floor. When the diaphragm goes back up, so does the pelvic floor. They are to move together. It should all happen reflexively and not consciously. I am with you and hopeful that you can avoid surgery and restore your PF. I do believe this is possible too.
