I met Jack Lord in person. It was back in 1985. I worked as a journeyman meatcutter at Safeway on S. Beretania Store. The customer service bell rang. I went out to see who needed help. He was very tall, big dark sun glasses, a white summer brim hat,white scarf,white button front shirt and white slacks and dress shoes. I couldn't believe it. I asked him how can I help? He wanted a crown roast of lamb chops...I responded that he is my favorite actor. Very intense and makes the scene more realistic...he replied that I was too nice... I miss the man.. God Bless him. I enjoy all of his movies...recently I watched , Man of the west , where he played a bad outlaw cowboy...filmed late fifties or early sixties. He was very young and was a very good actor at that. God Bless him.

@Matthew Jahnke Jack Lord was low key. Very humble and polite. He didn't venture out in public. He was a very private person. If a restaurant put up his picture and he found out, he would in person request it to be removed and tell them that he did not endorse their business. Just a very private person. Him and his wife donated to a few good causes for the town of Honolulu.

I grew up calling him Uncle Jack. He was a great Uncle and a great person. He taught me to live the private life and I will always respect him. I miss him so much

I want to say that in my opinion the opening theme song for Hawaii Five-O is the best theme song I have ever heard for a television show. I'm looking for all of the Five-O episodes since I was so very young when I first watched this, and only caught a few shows. Love all of the actors in Five-O too.

Jack Lord was a fabulous actor....a real gentleman always....he was fair and decent....always showed respect towards others...his films were always very interesting and he was a true professional actor.....so sorry he is not with us anymore....he is sadly missed....Jack R. I. P....

Wow, quite the Five-O fix! Kudos! 😂 Epic Show! .. my favorite. Cast and guest stars were amazing. Loved the way McGarrett wheeled around those boat sized cop cars! Only crit is that each episode ended too abruptly .. should've had an epilogue (like the original FBI).

I remember seeing the program not only when it was filmed but also on DVD. The entire staff gave to me a signed autograh and we talked to our hearts content. Great editing of scenes from one of my all-time favorite shows!! Jack Lord was BORN to be Steve McGarrett!! Also, you used the Season 4 opening, which was the only year they used real brass, woodwinds, and percussion - no electronics - which gave the theme a "richer" sound!! (You can clearly hear the trombones and tubas when they have the theme or the low background rhytyms.)

I also saw JACK LORD on a season 1 episode of Ironside called DEAD MAN,S TRIAL when he played Lawyer/mobster John Trask!! That episode of Ironside was during the first season which I have on DVD 📀 dated September 28 1967!!

Still one of my favorite TV shows of all time and my favorite cop show. It was also very innovative for its time. As far as I know, it was the first police drama to use profiling (Draw Me A Killer), feature a psychopath who worked in a post office (the Listener), and which featured computer fraud (Computer Killer). My only real gripe with the show is that it lasted too long. It should have stopped after its 10th year with the death of Chin Ho. The last two seasons were quite bad with some of the worst episodes of the entire series such as The Bark and the Bite, The Spirit is Willy, Bird in the Hand, Voice of Terror, and The Kahuna (though season 11 also had two of my favorite episodes; Number One with a Bullet & The Year of the Horse). But despite that, it was much better than its remake where McGarrett was more a commando than a cop.
