The Secret Life and Difficult Final Years of Jack Lord Steve McGarrett Hawaii Five-O.
Jack Lord was an American actor and director, best known for his portrayal of Steve McGarrett in the popular television series "Hawaii Five-O" from 1968 to 1980. Born on December 30, 1920, in New York City, Lord began his acting career on Broadway in the 1940s before transitioning to film in the 1950s. He appeared in several notable films such as "Dr. No" (1962), the first James Bond movie, and "The Hangman" (1964). However, it was his role as the tough and no-nonsense police detective Steve McGarrett in "Hawaii Five-O" that made him a household name. In addition to his acting career, Lord was also an accomplished artist and had exhibitions of his paintings and sculpture. He passed away on January 21, 1998, in Honolulu, Hawaii, but his iconic portrayal of Steve McGarrett continues to inspire and entertain audiences to this day.

Back in the day, me too and every single week I just had to spin around with him during that opening scene where he turns around on that balcony lol. Oh for those wonderful innocent childhood days again. The funny thing about this show though, is that although it was deemed fit for children to watch, it dealt with a lot of adult themes which I guess I didn't really quite grasp as a kid back then but when I see it now I can understand it a lot better and despite all of the technology we have today, things haven't really changed much in terms of how people behave, relationships etc and shows like this often reflect it in an entertaining kind of a way. Many thanks.

My husband and I recently started watching the original Hawaii Five-O. At first we were just tuning in for the sake of nostalgia but then we realized that it’s a quality, classic show with really interesting plots! The memories are fun and it’s refreshing to watch a show that was filled with good characters of all races WITHOUT all of the woke messaging shoe horned in to every episode. It was a clean show, too. 👍🤟

Jack was great in Hawaii 5-0, and I am sorry that his private life had some very hurtful times. But when someone has a child they should make every effort to be there and support that child. Thank you Classic Hollywood Legend for posting. I was born in 1968 and started watching Hawaii Five-O as a child because my father was a huge fan. I became a fan of the show after watching my first episode. I loved the theme song, the cast, Hawaii, and of course Jack Lord. Steve McGarrett was the coolest cop of all time. I have the CD collection and have seen every single episode dozens of times of the past 50+ years. Anytime I'm changing channels and come across a Five-O episode I can figure out the episode in a matter of seconds (like most of you). Not a fan of the reboot of the series even though I haven't seen one episode. I couldn't care less. There are just some things in life you don't replicate. RIP Jack Lord, James MacArthur, Kam Fong and Gilbert Lani Zulu Kauhi. Thank you all for the great memories!

One actress on Hawaii Five-0 said he wore a toupee , but an actor who routinely guest starred in the show said no , it was his own hair , he just sprayed a lot of hair spray in it , or earlier on , hair gel , which I agree with him . Because if you watch a scene from a fourth season episode called " R&R&R" , he's walking out on a tarmac at the airport to meet someone and his hair is just really blowing in the wind , just like it's his own . If it were a toupee , it would have blown off , or loose at the front . Even if he did wear a toupee , he wouldn't have been the only entertainer at that time to wear one , like Burt Reynolds , John Wayne , Frank Sinatra , Bing Crosby , etc. The first three guys listed I have seen pictures and early movie footage of them with thinning hair so I knew they wore toupees , not Jack Lord though .

But then came the new Steve McGarrett ... Alex O'Laughlin came to take the role in the Hawaii 5-0 reboot in 2010. Both series were excellent, but I enjoyed the new one much more

For sure, he's NOT the "only"..."vain"...actor, ever!! Or,...PERSON,...for that matter! And, probably, won't be the LAST one, either! "All men posess some vanity, within themselves...."-unknown. So, 'judge not,'....
