Hawaii's Two Seas : Walking Kailua in May 2023

Kailua is known for its beautiful beaches, clear waters, and lush, tropical scenery. It is situated about 12 miles northeast of Honolulu.
Kailua has a population of around 38,000 people and is a popular destination for tourists and locals alike. The town has a laid-back, relaxed vibe and offers a range of activities and attractions, including water sports, hiking, shopping, and dining.
One of the most popular attractions in Kailua is its beaches. Kailua Beach and Lanikai Beach are both famous for their soft white sands, turquoise waters, and stunning views of the Mokulua Islands. These beaches are also popular for swimming, snorkeling, and kayaking.
In addition to its beaches, Kailua is also known for its outdoor activities. The town is home to several hiking trails, including the Lanikai Pillboxes hike, which offers panoramic views of the coast and surrounding mountains. Visitors can also go kayaking or stand-up paddleboarding in the nearby waters or take a scenic bike ride along the Kailua Bay.

Paia we had in Oahu was pretty pricey but very good that we ate twice. I didn't dig Kailua beach as much as other beaches. The day I drove there on 3 hours of sleep, it was so hot and tiring. Parking, in residential area that Google map took us to, was tougher than a $2 steak to find available spot, with no public restroom within vicinity area. If I recall, it was pretty windy that day.

Kailua so beautiful 🤩 luv the beach; are you still in Hawaii AK? Magnum PI 80s series Robin Masters house was at 41-505 Kalanianaole Hwy, Waimanalo someone bought the place 2015 demolished it to build new ritzy house; the original estate was built in 1930s it was called Pahonu; the water in front of the property has ancient stone enclosure called Pahonu Pond it was used by ancient fishermen to raise and keep turtles

Loving the older/local parts of Oahu. My dad is from Grand Cayman and I lived there for 9 months. The path to the beach took me right back to my Grandmother's house which was right across from the beach in West Bay 41:27
