I am so jealous. I live in the desert and fresh fish cost a fortune so I never get to have any. You just walk right out and catch your supper. It could not be any more fresh and it doesn't cost you a penny, plus you have fun catching it. Enjoy your life!

Moray eel, cooked in the Umu is in is one of my top 5 meals ever. Gut the Ell and chop into good sized pieces onion and black soya sauce wrap in banana leaf or in a foil or both . The biggest ELL has more fat and under ground for 1 to 2 hours if you going to cook other meat. Must be eaten with fresh Coconut cream and salt to taste and onion chopped into the bottle of empty coke bottle. Taro or Kasava or Pia is what we call it. I like the Samoan way of cooking Taro in the Umu. Plate coconut cream and lemon or lime and a piece of Taro and a big chunk of ELL and there’s no bones and use your fingers to eat it. And the drink must be fresh coconut water that you pick from the tree and husk. KZbin Cook Island’s if you have any questions. From a Aitutaki Cook Islander

Excellent video. My Grandfather has only one rule when spearfishing never tie it to your body. In Aitutaki Cook Island’s we make a Makoa it’s just a cotton wood timber and a wire that is hammered at one end and a hole at the other. Cotton wood because it’s very buoyancy and streamlined while you’re swimming. 20 meters of Rope and I always tie it to one of my legs not my waist . I find it safer to have it on a Makoa especially if you’re diving alone and the sharks are coming for the fish but ends up biting your waist where it is tied. You can’t see behind and it only takes one time and being in salt water you would not stop bleeding and before you make it to the shore without any help you will probably sleep. My advice to anyone spearfishing don’t go alone unless you’re very experienced and fish must be away from your body. GOD BLESS And BE SAFE and Always use Your Common Sense. From a Aitutaki Cook Islander
