Very helpful video. My grandma was Portuguese born in Hawaii. She has passed on but I have fond memories of her making this potato salad. Thank you, Leanora, for helping me reconnect with my culture!

So many variations, most of them so yummy. Probably my favorite addition to this is a can of crab meat. Some people like artificial crab, but I like the canned.
@HawaiisPickleLady3 жыл бұрын
yes, any additions are good, like tuna or olives.

Hi Leonora when I was growing up on Maui my mom used to go to Yokouchi bakery or Nashiwa bakery. My favorite pastry was their bread pudding which I missed eating. All I can remember is it had regular pie crust at the bottom inside of the bread there were coconut raisins mixed in with the bread pudding. Do you any recipes of bread pudding with crust at the bottom ? I hope you do

When I stopped at a shrimp cart in Hawaii , they had a coconut dessert in the menu. It was delicious. I don’t even remember the name of it. I have looked up coconut rolls and while it sounded similar it wasn’t served at the cart like that. What I had was in a bowl and a very very soft bun and coconut pudding type sauce poured on top. Had to eat with spoon or fork not hands. Do you know what it might be? I would love to learn to make.

I have looked for something like it in Hawaiian cook books and can’t find.

Leonora: ...put in a half a cup of mayo... [A minute later] “...I think I’ll put in more mayo...” [Puts in another half a cup, then a minute later] “It looks dry, I’m going to put a little more mayo...” [Puts in another half a cup].
