I'm 76 and have been making potato salad that everyone raves about for many years, however my significant other of 5 years (picky eater) has never commented on it. I stumbled on your channel a few days ago and have been watching with interest. We were having neighbors over for dinner yesterday and I decided to try making your potato salad to go along with pork chops and baked asparagus. Well, the neighbors loved it and my guy not only had two helpings, but he actually commented how good it was and, even though I'm a good cook, he hardly ever makes a comment on my food! Yours has taken the place of my "once famous" potato salad! Thank you, Rachel, I'll surely be trying more of your recipes.

You didn't mention how her recipe differed from yours. When I switched from chopped pickles to RELISH I got compliments on flavor...but found it was actually the smaller pickle pieces in relish that made the difference to my husband.

I'm 75 and been making my mom's potato salad for years. Yours is very similar, but the main difference is the way you make your sauce separate and then add it to the potatoes. I love your method. My mom would love it too if she was still here but I'm sure she's watching me make it using your method from Heaven and nodding in approval..great job Rachel!🎉❤

I agree! I recently spoiled 3 boiled eggs because the shells stuck like glue. I looked on YT and a top chef said it was because instructions always say to put eggs in cold and bring to boil but they should be steamed for 13 mins starting with the water boiling. Supposedly it prevented the shell sticking to the membrane. I did try it but wasn’t 100% successful however watching Rachel make it look so easy, I will certainly be giving her way a try. Great video!

Rachel, Oh man oh man....This sounds like my recipe for my potato salad but I learned so much by not being in a hurry and tossing all it to a bowl quickly, being a 68 yr old granny I feel we all becoming in a hurry trying to multi task so many things and not remembering our grandparents and parents making it a tradition in cooking sometimes a special meal we all shared taking time. We had no technology and held conversation with each other!!! ...even the youngsters. Boy those were the days!!! I'm going to make some for dinner tonight but make this now so it can chill. Thanks so much for sharing your experience, knowledge, proof of love for cooking and expertise with your fans. May God keep you and yours safe. You're awesome! You are a great teacher! (I am a retired teacher, so I'm picky lol🤭) when I make variations of tater salad,,, I've used your basic recipe, but omit onion, due to medical reasons,,, we enjoy subbing a quality or homemade Ranch dressing, to the mayo, for a non mustard style. And of course yummy dill weed to taste. For over 25yrs, I've also made a version with Bread & Butter style pickles, chopped into relish,,, along with some pickle brine. I was at my folks house cooking for a widow lady🙏She loved it! I've even added French style mustard, instead of yellow traditional,,, and it's a hit! Also, we LOVE to add fresh chopped red bell pepper to all versions. And,,, of course here in TX, we've always got to make a spicy jalapeño version. We prefer the sweet Jalapeños or the Jalapeño relish in stores. And ya know,,, crispy bacon or diced ham on top for Southern BBQ! I am so anxious to look through your recipes! Keep up the GREAT teaching!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🥳💯‼️

I cook small portions but with this I'm making it like yours. I love potato salad. I probably will add cheese when I have a single serving. Just finely chopped cheddar sprinkled on top along with fresh chives. I have lots growing outside. Perfect recipe I think. It has all the ingredients I use plus a few I don't so I will see. I'll let you know how it was.

I've discovered and have been watching your videos. First off; I absolutely love your kitchen! It reminds me of my Mama's kitchen growing up in good ol' New Orleans. (Rumor has it we have some really great food! Lol) Before she passed away, she taught me how to make her seafood gumbo. (Who makes the best gumbo? Ma mama!!!) She never measured...sign of a great cook! She wrote down the steps. I have it framed in my kitchen till this day! A treasure! Something tells me not only does great food come out of your wonderful kitchen but, a whole lot of love. One of the best ingredients in any dish! Thanks for sharing and teaching really great ideas and tips! Bon Appétit!

Your recipe is very straightforward and I particularly like how you treat the potatoes before you even mix them in with the dressing. That is the key putting them out to cool and pouring the vinegar on them when they’re still hot! I used to make potato salad years ago and then sort of lost my touch but watching this recipe over and over and over and over again taught me how to make great potato salad again! Thank you, Rachel!
