My ntv650 has exact same problem, these engines are famous for it. I've not taken it apart yet but looking through the drawings my assessment is that conical spring washer called the 'anti judder spring' is design to apply very light pressure across the pack but in this engines case, is incorrectly manufactured and applying to much pressure through the plate pack causing to much torque to be transmitted into the gearbox when you disengage the clutch. Ditch the spring washer I bet it will be perfect.

NTV650 here, just finished my clutch and had the same problem. My solution very lovely use of an impact driver :D

I will be doing a replace soon and was just checking out this video. Pretty good but it end? lol My clutch starting slip at open throttle. Figures change plates and springs and see what it does. That nut looked like a handful or cursing to me. lol

Hi- Just pulled apart clutch.(it is stock). I went on websites and bought parts, they say there are 3 plates and 4 friction plates so i ordered them. when i opened bike there are 7 plates and 8 friction plates. What is this about do u know? Also on site diagram there is a "seat" judder spring and a judder spring. the seat judder was not available and my bike didnt seem to have one in it anyway?? but it did have the judder spring. can u shed light on this ? thx

7 plates and 8 friction disks are correct. Keep in mind that one of the friction disks is different than the rest. Most parts diagrams just show an illustration that includes 3 plates and 4 friction disks. This is just to illustrate where the plates go and how they relate to one another. It's a dumb way to make the illustration. The judder spring is required or can be replaced by an additional friction plate. The total stack dimension of all plates and disks is critical. @@daytonagrayghost Thank you- yes, i seen the first friction is different than the rest. I already bought and received parts from bike bandit and just ordered the rest of the plates and friction plates today to make up the 7 plates and the 8 frictions not shown in diagram. looks like barnett has better prices(i know for next time) I dont think i need to replace the spacer plates as they look fine but i will anyway since the case is open. Like i said, the diagram shows a "seat judder spring" and a judder spring (2) however my bike only had the one judder spring from factory and seems all suppliers do not carry the "seat judder spring " anyway. I will be replacing exactly what the bike came with from stock. p.s. the rag in the gears helped get the nut off. Im guessing ii will need to put rag on top side to tighten the nut back on?
