Best powertrain in its class, better seats now, steering wheel still awesome, improved suspension and good exterior looks. Yes there’s plastic door handles and it’s a spartan interior approach ala Tesla. Yes I’d prefer more buttons and carbon fiber, but add it all up, there’s nothing even close to this in its class.

but atleast you are honest about the cheap materials in the car. i dont know what they were thinking, the stocks are from mini as well along with dash and door tops. its really a shame because the car just drives beautifully , and to be honest GLC and Q5 can try but they cant match how the new m50 drove with adaptive msport suspension, its soft. however what im not a fany of is the cheap materials, removing comfort access on rear doors, and of course dash and door tops plastic or cloth, buttons and handles are really cheap along signal stocks that came from mini. they removed leatherette from cpillar thats now plastic, rear seats dont recline, no ambient lights in the rear as well as door pockets, the rear is very dark in the doors in night. even the seat bolsters is cloth and msport pedals and scuff plates plastic from aluminum , no entry sill guards, lower dash is criminal it feels like a kia quality from a recycle factory. no leather airbag msport steering wheel we are used to , basially this is a downgrade in every way possible in terms of materials used. its crimal to put this much plastic in a luxury car

Coming from a 2018 540 with every option, yes the materials are a downgrade. However, the seats are much better, the front ambient lighting is outstanding, and the dash layout works very well. Given the exceptional performance and good design overall, I can live with the materials downgrade.

These blow..I went to buy one last Sunday, sight unseen..I currently drive a 24 X4M40i..after sitting in it, so freaking cheap inside, it does handle better but not much. We ended up just adding a 24 X5 to the garage instead

Don't knock it if you can't afford it. If you look at the list of improvements they made it's substantial. Sure there are some cheap plastics but overall it's a big improvement

I like the foldable head rest in my X3 compared to bulky on this one has. It helps to keep folded for better visibility when there is no one in the back

This is the first color I’ve seen where the exterior doesn’t look like a vomit bag. Your knees were right in the back of that seat. I’d be willing to give up for 3-4 inches of room from the hatch if I could get it back in that 2nd row. I don’t need luggage space for 5 if I only have room for 3 people. I’m not a fan of the fabric dash and the fabric on the door. BMW’s dynamics are still top of the pack with Porsche but they need to understand that you also have to sit in it and look at it when you’re not inside the vehicle.

I have a 2019. BMW invited me to an event to test drive 2025. New car sounds like shit compared to mine, sunroof no longer opens, ambient lighting is cheaper. Hard pass keeping mine.

Postcode with BMW SUV s is they've removed physical buttons e.h. HVAC , VOLUME for stereo.. everything is on the tablet heh.... Pretty inconvenient AG's is a deal breaker for some.. At what if they do everything else well.... So 6 wants to suffer through 85F hear??

Great review Anthony. I am preferring this to the X5. So much less $$ but :same power and almost the same space. That engine sounds so amazing. The fixed moonroof is odd. The screen integration is so good and so is the ambient lighting. I agree with you about the election being over. Now I'm just getting my regular spam calls and emails lol 😁I have hope for our country and I refuse to listen to the fringe extreme doomsday people on either side. You know I've never lived in another state (except when I was a kid) and wow that does sound like a ton of work. Never know what the future holds as I never like to say never to most things. Great detailed review - thank you! Shame the detail in the new x3 is at best mediocre. But thats just my opinion as a BMW customer of just 14 years in that time I’ve purchased nothing else. But I’m not even going to waste my time looking at this latest iteration, as there’s plenty of reviews and comments that show how cheap the interior in the new x3 is. On the other hand my current 2021 ticks all my boxes, it is a luxury & fantastic looking/driving machine. I usually change every 4 years but now I’m looking around at Jaguar, Porsche Macan, Audi Q5, Mercedes, Korean et al. Personally I’m sad to be considering departing from BMW as their vehicles have over the past 14 years been everything I wanted in a luxury vehicle. BMW are wrong on this path following their inflection in my opinion. Time will tell.
