3D Printing Thursday - Best Practices to Texture Your Prints

Additive manufacturing using 3D printers allows for designers to add meta-data, logos, and fine-textures to their parts without affecting the geometry. Either through SOLIDWORKS 3D texture tools or software that specializes in organic texture generation, the benefit of adding textures to printed parts is seeing adoption in a wide range industries and applications. To achieve the best texture on a part however certain design factors must be accounted for. In our 13th episode of 3D Printing Thursday, we will discuss how to use SOLIDWORKS and Geomagic FreeForm to generate a 3D texture, why we used certain settings to create a texture, and what design factors you must be aware of to create clean, functional textures.
