Exactly, specifically the script the script was bad, the character development and plot were solid in those movies. I think people realized this because while the script and casting wasn’t terrible in the sequel series, the plot was problematic, and there was little to no character development.

Exactly. I like to call it the “Andrew Garfield” effect, since his case is the most publically known one, where the actor themselves are good at what they do, but suffer the brunt of public opinion due to bad writers. Episode 3 was my favorite Star Wars film, so I can’t wait to see him again.

@@BaldTorment It was utterly natural. He was a teenager, with a crush on a girl older than him, knew he wasn't supposed to make relationships. The situation was the physical outcome. The conversations with Padmé were also very natural, given the circumstances which both were into.

he did ok, obviously you need to be an insane actor to make any of George Lucas lines work. Hayden did well with the emotional beats plus revenge of this Sith was where he understood the role. the scenes with obi wan, Padme, and anyone who isn't his mom weren't good, however.

i think its more on the writing of george lucas and movie time. i think the theme is good but i think the deep politics(which made them get bored but i appreciate the after when im older to understand) and sudden change of heart of anakin made fans think it didnt make any sense. movies has little time to build the story of the mental strain of anakin getting nightmare of his love dies. and his interaction with the characters that made him question is he fighting with and for good guys. its like batman vows not to kill but the criminals keeps getting out of arkham asylum and get back to the life of crime and eventually kills hundreds, thousand and millions of lives lost. it would be hard to understand watch few episodes but the more story you watch the more you understand the mental fortitude of batman holding his values close to his heart. but of course he still has contingency plans if everything goes nuts.

Yeah, the writers leaned far too heavily into the whiny, creepy side of Anakin in the live action movies. The animated Anakin was compelling because he covered those insecurities with bravado which made him more bearable

As someone who grew up when the prequels came out ( born 1997 ) i watched both the original trilogy and prequel triology and loved them all. I mever understood the hate for Anakin's two live action actors in the prequels. I love star wars and most of the stuff they put out! Anakin is one of my favorite characters next to revan , starkiller , meetra surik ,and luke skywalker of course

Hayden’s portrayal of Anakin was far ahead of its time for a blockbuster film. He played Anakin as who he really was, a broken, mentally, and emotionally unstable young man; while many people were expecting a typical noble charismatic hero. Anakin never was that. He was a disconnected sociopath and Hayden played him as such.

Hayden played Anakin perfectly. Anakin was confused, conflicted and messy and Hayden did it so well. The entire Tatooine scene from AOTC and the I hate You from ROTS are so well done IMO.

I think Anakin's character was just held back by Lucas's dialogue. I mean it's always been wooden, but it's a glaring issue in the prequels. I do really like Hayden as Anakin though.

It was a combination of the sequels doing poorly and the generation of the prequels growing up and beginning to have a lot of nostalgia for early 2000’s when the prequels (and merchandise such as Lego Star Wars, Tartakovsky’s clone wars, Star Wars: Republic Commando, and the original Star Wars Battlefront) came out.

The Jedi are a martial cult that steals children and acts as enforcers for a corrupt government, and the republic is so corrupt that entire worlds are slaves under mega corporations and the banks have so much power they can blockade a planet and kill god knows how many people with no consequences…. That’s what the rebels want to bring back.

Hayden did amazing as anakin it’s literally people not knowing the difference between tv shows and movies. In tv showed you have a long time to build character development but in movies you only have a little bit of time due to run time and other characters needing development. I think it must be said: This man has always approached the role of Anakin/Vader with the utmost respect and dedication. From his stoic/conflicted performance to his intense devotion to his saber training. He doesn't get the credit he deserves as an actor for his work ethic. In the making of the prequel docs, the choreographer states by the time of shooting ROTS, Hayden was world class and it shows in his speed and precision. Wonderful to see his passion still there for the character.
