My friend and have been listening to all Haydn symphonies and this is the first version of 95 that we are taking in - outstanding! My jaw dropped several times. I feel Haydn is moving mountains with this symphony. Jochum here is on par with Szell and Furtwängler, really bringing out the heart and soul.

Wonderful performance. I love Jochum's set of the Haydn 'London' Symphonies on DG.

Thank you! Ages since I last listened to a Haydn symphony, and this performance is delightful.

Beautiful. Thanks much. Jochum is sometimes these days pigeonholed as a Bruckner guy. Old geezers like me know that he was a great conductor across a fairly broad array of composers.

I think that's simply because his Bruckner sounds a bit less idiosyncratic given his particular style and taste. and I don't mean that as a criticism, I absolutely love his Haydn but have to properly calibrate expectations before listening.

Staatskapelle? I am always surprised by Eugen Jochum's art. What a profound and highly artistical musician! Thanks Alexandre!
