I think it’s actually in response to the opponent’s pokemon- if the opponent’s pokemon is levitating and your pokemon has the ability to “fly” then your pokemon will match them when they switch out. Think it’s a placeholder animation from X&Y’s flying battles

Just so you know, Pokemon with Adaptability don’t get a stab boost if they Terastallize out of their original typing. This means when you use Tera dragon on Basculegion, it loses its stab boost on Wave Crash. This was a balancing mechanic done to prevent Adaptability Pokemon from abusing the Terastallizing mechanic.

Considering STAB is at 2.25x under these circumstances, losing out on the other STAB options is a fair trade off. You're effectively trippling down on one damage type in exchange for losing any versatility.

Yep, just confirmed that you lose adaptability on previous types to tera. Tera with original typing gives 2.25 stab with adapt, or 2 without. Previous tera types will just give regular stab without adapt boost.

Okay, so I looked up the flying thing. Some pokemon have a grounded and flying animation, but if you send out a pokemon with just a flying animation (Salamance in this case), then switch out to a mon with both, it has the terrain be a flying one from the last dude and triggers the animation for the new guy.
