FREE 5 day challenge where we walk you through how we earn 7 figures working online with littles: americandreamrevival.com/inte...
Today we're sharing our screen free family evening routine! Years ago we went completely screen free as a family, meaning unless it's looking up how to do something on KZbin, we don't entertain our children with screens. It was incredibly hard at first because at the time we thought it made parenting easier, but after a while we realized - screens actually increased tantrums in toddlers! Overall, they just made other things in life less enjoyable. Since this transition, we've had to find more creative ways to spend time as a family and be more intentional as parents. Hope you enjoy!

I just wanted to chime in and say - don’t give up on picture books, everyone! For sure, there is some trash, but there are also so, SO many great children’s picture books. You just have to sift them through. My eldest is 6 (2 more) and they’ve each been read to since birth for every nap and sleep; we go to the library every couple of months and borrow 40 books at a time. You have to pick them out yourself and find the good ones. As well as there being many, many, great lessons and concepts to be learned, picture books help kids learn to read through illustration, repetition and rhyme. All I’m saying is, don’t give up on the picture books guys - they do have a purpose and there are so many wonderful books that we love to read with our kids.

Can I JUST!! You guys are younger and years behind my husband and I in parenting and our walk with the Lord, and you are just such a huge blessing to us. It’s so encouraging to see the immense growth in your marriage and family life. I’m a long time follower and so thankful for your example. This content is very helpful. I have five kids and I still need reminders to include my kids in my duties. I am 36 and my parents were believers, did a great job training us, and I can attest that it’s a great blessing to my life as an adult. I find things being easier for myself than my other adult friends, just because I am more responsible for my own messes or routines. Interesting stuff.☺️

Also, totally agree with teaching your kids how to act, and interact, with company or just in general. Kids today have zero respect for elders or any one for that matter.

Thanks for sharing all this! I loved the teaching them a skill they are interested in and read aloud… I had heard about that but you explained it so well and inspired me to start that with my little ones at night instead of random books they are choosing from the library!

I loved the idea of intentionally working with them on the conversations with visitors. My son has no problem talking to people 😅 however I may use this to help work with how to properly deal with our friends!

LOVED y'all's picky eater video❤️Only critique is to maybe not assume people don't want to do these things but are learning/relearning bc they were never taught/traumatized/never considered, ect

Our toddlers' nap times seamlessly turned into quiet time in their rooms when they stopped sleeping.. it is such an important time for the whole house! I have been loving reading them chapter books too, I will look for your suggestions at the library. Do you have a list anywhere of your recs?

Very interesting video! So until what age would you recommend no screen time? Because eventually won't kids need to have their own cell phones, tablets, or laptops for school etc.

I highly doubt they will be giving their kids their own personal electronics for school….they don’t necessarily need that, especially since they are homeschooled. I personally got a flip phone in junior high so I could call my parents. I plan to do the same for my kids. I also just used a home desktop computer that everyone had access to to do my school work/print stuff out.

By the way, you touched on the topic of giving your kids something that they like to do to get them to sit down and listen when you're reading. So does your "training" involve giving rewards and providing consequences? Just curious how you get kids to do things that are not "fun" or they are not interested in doing.

I miss the old them so much, when Annabelle was first born and they had their little condo, now all they do is preach. I just want normal everyday family life stuff not just sit there and talk. They are trying to figure this YT stuff out but honestly it’s not working
