What’s better cartridge filter or sand filter?

I prefer sand over cartridge. And De over sand. Cartridge filters collect all the contaminants from the water. This can promote algae growth, If not cleaned regularly. De and sand filters can be easily backwashed removing most of the contaminants, using less chlorine to keep the water clear.

Can I use a Intex sand filter pump an inground pool?

Sure you can use any filter and any pump that you’d like, however The results may not be great. This is because in the ground pool pumps are self priming and have more lift capacity than an above ground pool pump that is designed to be installed below water level. Your biggest obstacle is getting all of the water in the pool through the filter in a reasonable amount of time. For example, a pump that moves 40 gallons a minute would have to be run twice as long as a pump that moves 80 gallons per minute. If your swimming pool is 30,000 gallons you would have to run the pool 12.5 hrs using the smaller pump compared to 6.25 hrs on the larger pump. There’s a lot that goes into it but look at your pool size how much gallons your pumpkin move and make a good decision based on that info
