Bloody brilliant. I am 58 so obviously knew Hazel O’Connor’s work… I am old but didn’t live under a rock…. But it has only just been the last two weeks that I have really begun to appreciate her talent. I love this song and I have ordered a 12 inch vinyl copy of it from eBay. I will say it again, bloody brilliant.

Just checking out her albums. Breaking Glass is just amazing and I’m getting into some of the others. Very charismatic & underrated; it seems the industry and music media did her down🙁
@nnuman110 жыл бұрын
Albion records all but ended Hazel's career, making her sign a contract a day before she was told she had got the part of "Kate." So when A&M started having hits off "Breaking glass," Albion records would not release her from the contract. All of which is detailed in her autobiography "Breaking glass barefoot," Remember this Hazel has done a load more work after "breaking glass," " Beyond the breaking glass," for me is a classic. Having met Hazel a few time's she has never let me or other fans down, taking time to talk to every one even after a very long set and numerous encores. Needless to say I am a life long fan. Favourite track is "cuts to deep."

+nnuman1 The only time I have seen Hazel was in about 2000 at Forest Arts Centre - New Milton - capacity 150. In between tracks she explained that she didn't want to have anything to do with Record Companies, agencies etc due to the way they had ripped her off in the past. Still a great show, and like you said at the end she came out to the Foyer to sign any CDs people bought.

The 80's was a blurr 😂 but some top artists gave us great music and we learnt to live in the shadow of the mushroom cloud... No winners in war apart from the arms sales people. We sit by and let this go on in 2024 really people solve it with a game of chess, no death no destruction no starvation no billion dollar arms industry....... We have learnt nothing

When I see Hazel O'Connor I'm reminded of a TV interview she did on Wogan many years after this (she'd grown her hair long and looked very pretty) in which she brought up a trip she took to Lebanon, that she had to cut short because Israel started bombing the place, which basically pissed her off - OK then. So when I see her that's what I'm initially reminded of...Maybe I just don't like musical artists being political, concentrate on the music.
