Nice one Hazy. Little tip. Stick some silicone tubing round the handles of the Toaks pots. Stops them getting hot in the flame.

Know this video is well past it's sell-by date but I highly reccomend making pot cosies from reflective foil and tape. Stops them jangling about and an absolute game-changer for camp cooking - I can now make a coffee (with a clean pot), pop it in the cosy, cook and eat a full meal, and the coffee is still to hot to drink.

Good chuckle at the end! I’d add a few wraps of gaffa tape around your shovel handle and a few cable ties, I know it sounds like a mountaineering abduction kit but they are great for improvised kit repair.

I tie my tent on the bottom with those two straps. (Buckles) I can quite easily get my nammatj 3GT on. Just a thought. Makes for more room in the backpack for 🍷 or 🍺 we need to bin the shovels because since I bought mine I’ve seen zero snow since 😂 great packs the ospreys and aren’t those bottom compartments massive. Also the compartment on the top. Not the rain cover one the other one. I get all kinds of crap in there. Again massive. Anyway. Good to see in ya sack mate. Happy camping. 👍

That shovel is 498g in weight! Really useful bit of kit in winter on mountains. As for water purification, I take tablets. Just pop one in 1 litre of water and 30 minutes later you are good to go (nothing can go wrong). In winter I have the MSR XGK™ EX fuel stove; gaz cannisters in mountain winter sub zero conditions can be a serious pain and not at all efficient. This stove is bomb proof and will never let you down if you use it properly.

Hi there thanks for the vid 👍 I have a winter ML I would suggest not chains for boots If you need a walking Axe you would be best to have B2 boots with C1 or C2 crampons, unlikely to need a snowshovel in the UK unless you are planning some very Extreme conditions where you are planning to dig snow hole Doing lots of avalanche pit testing A walking axe will do all you need boot gators or good quality gators are very useful too Footprint for a tent for an extra snow gate groundsheet Compass waterproof Map and quality head torch bivvy bag or emergency shelter Hope that helps 👍😀🐾

@johnchemist86284 жыл бұрын
Also, gas canisters are not a great idea for winter camping. Many won't work at 30°F (butane) and none work below 10°F (even 'Iso' which is a more volatile gas mix of isobutane...)
