some possibly useful ideas: - drop pod range is determined by the amount of fuel in them, by default they are only half full so you weren't actually seeing a drop pods max range - by turning the nest into a freezer the rats could be killed by hypothermia and used for meat storage at the same time. - emping a pawn with a bionic stomach forces vomiting to occur - pawns that drink chemshine tend to vomit alot - I could be very wrong on this but it seems that to induce food poisoning you would be better off just getting them to eat the corpses raw because the max chance for food poisoning in meals is only slightly above the chance when eating a corpse directly.

My sister got me to watch AA's sea ice run movie a month or so back. It was the first I'd ever seen of RimWorld. *Yesterday,* after weeks of watching your and AA's vids on repeat to satiate my thirst for RimWorld content, I finally bought the game after slowly saving up. Again, I need to emphasise that I bought it *yesterday.* I now have 25.6 hours played on Steam. Please note that anywhere between 7-9 hours of that time was because I stayed up so late playing that I remember saving and closing my eyes. Woke up to find the game still running and my laptop's fan going nuts trying to prevent the laptop from exploding. Thanks for keeping me sane 👍 Gonna have to save up for Ideology now, and probably Biotech as well (I want my colonists to be able to have kids damn it) By the way, your voice is very nice to listen to and great for falling asleep to. Also every time I hear the noise at <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="1">0:01</a>, I think I'm about to hear the song you always use and I never do and it drives me insane

rimworld might be the greatest video game ever made. for me at least, its a solid top 3 and has been since before it left early access. theres a reason why dwarf fortress and the dozens of games inspired by it are almost all massive successes rimworld is literally infinitely replayable even without the crazy good mods. just like minecraft. you dont stop playing rimworld you just let other, lesser games take the spotlight temporarily.

This reminds me of a colony I made back in 1.3, I think. I had the Rats! Mod and I started dumping raider corpses into a building while the rats would spawn in. I'd tame the rats and train them to kill while keeping them confined to the corpse room when they're not contributing to colony defense. The only issue I faced in that playthrough were mechanoid clusters since those turrets explode if you damage them enough and not kill them in time, which significantly reduced my rat population. But hey, dad rats get chucked into the stew so it's all fine.

You could take this further by researching biofuel and mass refining chemfuel from the rat meat before selling it or using it to power flamethrowers so rats puked by “volunteers” would provide your food, diplomacy, furniture, clothes, and defenses it’s perfect

For automation, I'd suggest one of the trap mods. You can find a few options that'll put down floor spikes or punji sticks. They don't tend to do much damage, but they also don't need replacing after they trigger. And rats don't need much damage to kill.

You know my first thought seeing this was adding the Vegetarian gene, so that if they eat the ratmeat they instantly get food poisoning. The rats own meat propigates the rats for the 'produces' while everyone else could eat the meals and be fine. [currently half through the video]

However, if you place it within a killbox, the pawns will continue to destroy all the plants inside.

if you want to attempt a similar thing again, instead of going for the food poisoning angle, you can add VE Fungoids to the game. The fungoids have a gene where anytime someone tries to interact with them it makes them (the interacter not the fungoid) throw up cuz they are so hideous. So a single fungoid on warden duty could in theory create a lot of rats in a full jail. It maybe worth considering idk

Puke on sight. i couldn't figure out for the life of me why my colony was covered with puke since no one was food poisoned until hours later when my VE insectoid colony accepted a pretty good baseline pawn. everyone stepping over that 1 pawn's puke make for a very tensed colony.

If you ever have another go at this or some similar food cycle venture, I'd recommend using the "Weaponized gas" mod to kill the rats with rat poison vents. Great vid, keep it up.

Another interesting way to force colonists to vomit is to install either the sterilising stomach, nuclear stomach or reprocessor stomach and EMP them. Also if you want more colonists, you can actually capture raiders more easily if you hit them in melee with blunt weapons as they tend to avoid dealing bleeding injuries that often lead to people bleeding to death. Another very useful trick is to capture passers-by from other factions. If your social is high enough you can get a 100% capture rate and you can capture or kill the rest preferably with blunt weapons as mentioned above. You can offset the negative diplomatic impact by sending gifts till they go back to neutral then start again and get more colonists faster.
