VERY GOOD !!! Love those old German engines, HB were used to be my favorite sport engines back in the day, even more favorite than the Webra series but that's subjective. Very solid engines .. in the same "league" as the K&B .61 even though I cannot tell which one was better. Run it a tad on the richer side ( a few clicks off peek power ) and they will last "forever". Back then, fuel with nitro was not necessary ( Nitro was very expensive in Europe so most of the engines designed back in those days in Europe at least were meant for FAI or at most 5% nitro fuel .. Very good one. Enjoyed watching this as well.

What kind of prop? (In general... Allway's run a ringed engine rich at running in.) I see you have the easer to ajust HB-carb than the Perry. Have three of these new. One of them a PDP. Nice motors, great castings. Your demonstrations are alway fun to look at, and very informative!

Hi, I have an earlier red anodised head HB .61 with a Perry Carb and backplate pump (circa 1973 I believe) that I last ran in 1992. Ran it this year after a clean up. Pump had failed so I located a normal rear cover and I used a carb from an OS 45 FSR with shim material as a sleeve. Ran great with idlebar plug and 5%. Would like to see how it runs with a non idle-bar plug.

I will definitely be trying it with a non idle bar plug as well.

Nice videos David! What are your recommendation of the best brand RC model engine in terms of throttle responsiveness, snappy compression, and smooth runs with a carb that's easy to adjust for .15 to .90 range with reliable parts? I have seen many engine manufactures comparing theirs to that of O.S. engine. I find it odd that O.S. had a good brand reputation until they lowered the quality of their engines in the 2000s and 2010s and that O.S. has whisked away from using true ABC liners but instead made one out of nickel. Aside my question on which you recommend is the best brand, have you also tried Jett Engineering engines? In addition, does Super Tigre make better ABC/AAC engines than their usual ringed engine production line? Joseph

Well I would recommend looking at the hundreds of 2 stroke videos I have and judge for yourself! I have little issue with any of them.

No I really don't. I don't have any engine with a Perry carb. Sorry. Here is the link to the instructions for the Perry carb adjustments. www.hbengines.com/guide.htm You really have not given enough information to diagnosis your issue.
