Toby Regbo was amazing as teenager Dumbledore as well. He also added a bit of vulnerability to the character and his new relationship with Grindelwald. Maybe one day when they are much older they could play them again as adult and older Dumbledore.

As an American, I have to say that the best thing about the movie series is that Jo Rowling wouldn’t let Hollywood take it and ruin it. As for wrapping in Legacy….its an obvious merch move, and it’s kind of disgusting. Let’s not go the Disney route. Stay true to the source material.

It’s easy to say an American can do a British accent but Harry Potter has too many kid actors involved to open the casting. The chances of a kid actor in America learning an accent is probably low…although…if we see the American school it should be American actors.

The main writer of the new HBO series never read all of the books. He's been quoted saying that staying faithful too the books doesn't excite him, and says that JK Rowling is only holding onto a lot of the IP because its profitable for her. He's literally calling her greedy, instead of acknowledging that she cares for her characters and the universe she created. They are going to eff up the entire series. Don't get your hopes up, its going to be a train wreck.

Well, Rylance's height will not be a problem at all. Rember Robbie Coltrane who played Hagrid was only six feet tall yet through some cinematic trickery he looked all of eight. Just because an actor is not noted for being a strong leader or having a commanding presence because of his past roles does not mean he is not capable of projecting that aura. Almost any accomplished Shakespearean actor can change his character to fit the role. All in all, sounds like he would be a good pick for Dumbledore.

For Hogwarts Legacy, I always assumed that they were going to make it the student's 6th year, continuing off from their 5th year. Because if they made it a trilogy of games, the player can cleanly close off their final year at Hogwarts in their 7th year. But now that they said it will tie more closely to the TV series, the sequel might jump ahead much further in the timeline.

They could have more ancestors of characters. They could have artifacts that still exist in the modern day. They could have the Triwizard Tournament. They could have the same actors play the ghosts in both the game and the series. There's a lot of things the game could do to line up with the series, even if it stays in the same time period it was originally in.

I can see him as Dumbledore, He has the right eyes & age, a younger person without the crinkles (wrinkles) around his eyes wouldn't work because that is the part of his face we see most. He has big shoes to fill with the prior Dumbledore characters, his height can be worked on as well if it is necessary with lifts in his shoes. Many actors are short! It is harder to fit their mates to them but so many actresses are tiny! It blows me away how many. I think he would do fine. It's who they pick for Allan & Maggie's parts that would be tougher. I'm looking forward to this coming out! It will be hard not seeing the familiar faces especially, if you are like me, you know every word of the dialogs for every part played by the originals.

How is Hogwarts Legacy going to achieve its objective without being redundant? We already have the books, & the eight films. Personally, I think it would be better strategy to pick up the story line in Legacy with the Avatar's sixth year. Sebastian Sallow's story isn't completed. Does he turn into a dark wizard like Isadora Morganach? What is his future relationship with the Avatar?

I've seen him in some Nolan movies. I think he's a good actor. I can see him as Albus, maybe the more book accurate than most fans have been asking for. I personally am so used to Michael Gambon's deep voice, I can't think of an Albus with a different voice.

My pick has always been Sir Ian McKellen since Richard Harris’ passing though I acknowledge he might be too old at this point. Also I would be happy to bring back actors from the movies to play other roles. I could totally see Jason Isaac’s as Dumbledore and Tom Felton as Lucious. Oh and if perhaps they work flashbacks in the Series we could work Jude Law back in as young Dumbledore Also as far as aligning the game if they set it in the 1890s they could make Albus and Aberforth Characters our OC interacts with as companions or if closer to the time of HP Albus can be a professor or the headmaster and Abe the Bar Tender

Rilance is an excellent actor, but he is very dark and inward as an actor. Granted the Potter series got much darker as it progressed. Excellent actor is an understatement. I have to trust the casting.

I think that Jude Law should continue to play Dumbledore. He's young, but it only takes a little movie magic to age an actor up for a role. I think it would help bridge a gap for continuity sake, and he was quite good in the role.

As far as consistency... and Hogwartz Legacy 2... you just need to use the same broad layout between the TV series and the Castle, have some of the same stuff in the backgrounds in the same areas, etc. You'd be surprised how much that'd entertain people. :)

You need to factor that Richard Harris played someone called Oliver Cromwell…. In Wolf Hall, Mark Rylance is playing Thomas Cromwell ( the great great grand father to Oliver) and Rylances acting style is soft like Harris as well

My pick would be someone from the movies for no other reason than I think acting wise he would be perfect. Gary Oldman. Just think of him in the scene with Harry and Hermione prior to him leaving on Buckbeak. When he was very tender with them both. Now imagine him Grey and bearded.

I'm not on the loop with HL's news, but having played the game, I'd wager that HL2 will take place in the original movie series timeline. One of the strongest sides to HL was its environment. They can't simply recycle Hogwarts for the second game, so it basically needs to be set a few years apart. Lastly, if they intend to tie HL2 and the new HP series, it's very possible that the game will have new DLCs as new seasons for the series are made. This can be very interesting as we may get to experience Hogwarts changing and things getting darker as the series progresses. Imagine playing on year one and then gradually seeing things happen, like quests related to the Chamber of Secrets or the Goblet of Fire. Imagine the changes with Umbridge. Imagine if our character got older as new seasons approach. It would be a lifetime, years-long experience I'd be willing to put a good deal of money to live.

Almost everything I listed had a VG tie in (in plenty of cases, several), and the titles released as tie-ins were almost all unanimously bad/disappointing. It's true that you can find enjoyment even in a poor quality title, however that doesn't objectively make it any better than it is.

If Hogwarts Legacy 2 takes place the school year after the first game, that’d make Albus Dumbledore 11 years old when the game starts - aka, he’ll be sorted and start his first year at Hogwarts during the game. Anorak from Ready Player One as Dumbledore? Yes please! They can use forced perspective and other camera tricks like what they did with Tom Cruise's movies to maximise Mark's stature. Jude Law with make-up is great too! Just look at his recent photos with salt & pepper beard. I don't mind a handsome bloke playing Dumbledore. No wait! He is Dumbledore! I hope they continue to engage only UK & Irish actors in Hogwarts. When we see American school and ministry, then yes, obviously engage American actors. The story in Hogwarts Legacy is completed with the Ancient Magic hidden away. If it is to linked to Harry Potter, I think it's more logical to link to Fantastic Beast.

The absolute best thing that they could do is to make the show a 1 to 1 remake of the books while tweaking small things to make it more entertaining for a TV audience. The movies were already a fantastic adaptations but left out major events and plot points. However, they’re not going to do that. If any of the rumors about the upcoming series are true, this series will flop in addition to enraging fans of the books and original movies. I’m not optimistic but I’m crossing my fingers.

It could make sense to have Hogwarts 2 be a prequel of the Series/Books. When Voldemort rose to power or maybe his first defeat. Maybe when he is in school in the 1940s. Imagine going to class and dueling with Tom. It would make a great story where you could even enter the chamber of secrets.

Still think it’s stupid, what’s the point in releasing the same thing that’s not broken, Disney are still trying to fix Star Wars after butchering it with their movies, why not take a new venture and do a series that bridges the books and the game, I’m still wanting to see dumbledor and grindalwald battle it out and thought the fantastic beasts were actually building up to something.

Still wondering why this series is even getting made. Would much rather have seen a series on the founders or even a different school like Uagaduo, Ilvermorny, or Beaubaxton. Harry’s story has been told twice, and this world is gigantic and spans millennia. Time to go somewhere else.

He doesn’t have the right face shape or eye colour. Normally wouldn’t be an issue especially if it’s the first time casting a specific role but this character is so well established and popular casting the “wrong person” could break the project.

I don't know about this whole thing. I want it to happen, but it has to be done very carefully. You can't take too much time to finish the whole thing, or the kids will be too old by the time it ends. And 10 plus years for actors that are already in their 60s, 70s, or 80s at the start... that's asking a lot. I say get younger actors for the older roles and use prosthetics to age them up. I'm usually all for using actors and actresses of appropriate age for roles, but i hate it when they change actors and actresses in the middle of a series. The role isn't the same after that. Look at the totally different Albums Dumbledore after the change. The second Dumbledore wasn't Dumbledore whatsoever. Not even by the end of the character at the end. And sorry to all the Shakespearian actors out there, but it is way overrated for films and TV shows. Keep it to Broadway and the like where Shakespeare is meant to be. Dumbledore was not written in that form and shouldn't be portrayed that way. Yes, he starts out as the kindly grandfather like person, but really, he is a manipulative backstabbing @$$hole. And no matter what, he was a Slytherin and not a Gryffindor. He has more in common with what is looked for in a Slytherin than what is looked for in a Gryffindor and this is coming from someone that has been sorted into Slytherin in 15 different sortings from different platforms including Pottermore.

as long as the actors are a good pick along with writing. I think a tv show could be a pretty fun way to showcase the series in a fresh new perspective separate from the films. So far with knowing the actor who is doing dumboledore is a spot on pick. So let's just hope rest of the main cast well get as lucky picks.
