Daemon played this correctly. He knew the princess was being undermined at every turn ( in her eyes). Nobody was taking her role seriously. Daemon gave her what she wanted. To be taken seriously, and not treated like a child. Clever man.

I think it wasn’t only that. It’s clear that he doesn’t really admire his brother and sees the whole council as cowards. Rhaenyra is the only one who actually had the guts to stand up to him (and go against her father’s wishes). I think this scene is also the scene Daemon starts actually respecting her.

It’s the subtext under the surface that I think they played so brilliantly with their micro-expressions. Daemon’s expression suggests to me that he’s impressed by her boldness - as if he realised in that moment that she could indeed match him. The timing and the script suggest this too; Mysaria walks away, and Rhaenyra uses that moment to say “I’m right here, Uncle”. Really clever. Milly said she and Matt had decided to play the attraction as ‘highly charged but under the surface’, and I think they pulled that off flawlessly in this scene.

They are Targaryen, besides the House of the Dragon isn't the only house in Westeros to marry between Uncle and niece (House Stark did it), or between cousin (House Stark, Lannister....) They are the only one however who marry brothers and sisters. At least they face the consequences of their preference, unlike House Lannister....

I wonder if that was Sunfyres egg. Does anyone know if Sunfyre hatched in Aegons crib or did Aegon claim Sunfyre when he was a young dragon? Sunfyre is big by the time of the dance definitely significantly bigger then Vermax or Moondancer showing hes a good bit older then both of them which supports Sunfyre already being hatched by the time Aegon was born. But Aegon is also a good bit older then Jace or Baela he just didnt have any frienfs his age due to him being a Prince and quite childish so he hung out with Jace and Luce so alot of people think hes around their age but hes a good bit older then them. The only things that are confirmed about this egg are that it was Dreamfyres egg and it was meant for Rhaenyras brother who died. Given how Sunfyre looks i can definitely see him being the offspring of Dreamfyre and Caraxes. He has a long neck like Caraxes and his head look like combination of the wolf dragon breed, Caraxes, and the dinosaur dragon breed, Dreamfyre. His name even seems to pay homage to Dreamfyre.

After hearing her speak up during the council and seeing this scene I was really excited for her character to be a lot more vocal, (smart like a Margaery or observant like Arya), but somehow her character pretty much went downhill after this. She became more of a whiny, spoiled teenager than someone who showed promise to be a future ruler. This move was reckless but it was a calculated risk, her other actions just proved to be dumber than her character seemed to be (running off into the forest in a tantrum, choosing Laenor as a husband b/c she fked around and found out that not choosing a diff. husband when she had the chance was a horrible idea, letting Daemon ruin her reputation w/o forcing him to marry her in the ways of Old Valyrian so that the King couldn’t annul it, not keeping Alicent on her side and by proxy keeping an eye on Otto, not honing any political/social/educational/battle skills). After getting used to smart characters of GRRM who happen to be women, I was just expecting…more.

The English actors are currently filming season 2 (and most of the actors in HotD are English, so they are not affected by the strike). And the US actors who are on strike have a good reason to strike. With what the studios offer them, only very few could make a living, and if they cannot make a living, we will only get movies with AI, which will be terrible. They are on strike for the future of movies and great shows like this! We should support them! Blame the greedy studios, not the actors for this strike!
