I just bought a loose vintage complete 1982 MOBAT Tank with Steeler from a local independently owned toy store and I still have the cap too and it still works and it's great! It's probably one of my favorite G.I.Joe toys I own now!

Cadre is what we call personal assigned to an instructor position. when I was in the Army we used this term in reference to the guys that ran our ranges and shooting courses. thank you for another great video.

Steeler was my favorite character for a long time, not only because he had the best accessory (a whole tank!) and awesome gold highlights, but I really liked the "clashes with authority" bit on his file card. Sometimes he ended up in the HQ playset stockade to cool off!

According to Marvel's G.I. Joe #1, the M.O.B.A.T. originally stood for: "MObile Battle & Artillery Tank". (The comics pre-dated the toy line.)

I’m excited to say that I’m buying this toy (100% complete) for my collection today! I am also buying one (incomplete, but I’ll be completing it) for my brother as a gift! Glad to have this channel as a reference and buying guide. Best wishes from Spokane WA.

The Mobat was my all time favorite G.I. Joe vehicle (for the G.I. Joe team). I liked the Cobra HISS Tank just as much, as well as the Fang copter. As for your problem with the driver sticking out, I didn't have a problem with that. If I wanted Steeler to be protected inside the tank, I pulled him out and pretended he was actually in the tank and everything was closed up so he would be protected. If you think about it, the Cobra HISS Tank drivers had it worse. They were sitting behind a sheet of glass. One well aimed rocket, mortar, or RPG and they are history. Great Review though.

In the UK, Palitoy borrowed this tank and driver from Hasbro for its Action Force line Z force. The driver is still called Steeler but has red Z on each arm, red under shirt and red gun handle on the chest. Sells for twice as much as his American cousin but then again he’s more rarer.

Even hearing about this vehicle never interested me as a kid. Was not into motorized anything toy wise when I was little. The motorized action packs were fun when I was a little older, but not for very long, unfortunately. Thank you for sharing, and great job on the review!

Pretty sure that _Steeler_ was the MOBAT tank *commander* (not the tank driver), and that's why his position is up top. The nonexistent pretend tank *driver* along with the pretend gunner who operated the large main turret, would be located inside the tank, as the comics and animated series depicted. When being fired upon, Steeler would seek refuge inside via the molded main hatch depicted on the turret behind him, and to his right.
@roguishpaladin6 жыл бұрын
FWIW, original 1982 Steeler was always that color and slightly off-color from his helmet - that's not aging.

Never had the MOBAT as a kid, so Steeler wasnt one of my favorites. However he was the focus of one of the best GI Episodes.

Steeler, Flash, Hawk and Short Fuze had the same head. Breaker, Clutch and Rock and Roll had the same bearded faced head, and Grunt, Zap and Grand Slam had the same balding head.

Great video, so glad I found your channel. Two things to add/ debate. The gun I always thought would turtle in just in case it ran into a wall, keep it from breaking. The other is a debate point, but I thought the tank was based on the MBT70 prototype rather than the Sheridan. Gun is a bit big (although the Shillelaghs launcher is bigger) and the turret and body looked more like the MBT70. That was the tank that the US and Germany were developing to replace the Patton’s and Leopard 1 before it got way too complicated. upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/45/MBT-70_Main_Battle_Tank_-_Aberdeen_Proving_Ground.jpg

Just got a mobat this weekend at an antique mall this weekend. It doesnt have the battery cover or the back tow hook part or 50 cal. It was 10 $ 20% off which i felt was fair. GOing to restore it, excited about it.

A great video review for a great vehicle. I think that if you want to climb over a book while moving forward, the only way to do it is by adding some angle to the motion (climbing one of the treads first)
@HCC7889 жыл бұрын
Kyriakos Vafiadis That would work. The commercial shows the MOBAT rolling over blocks, but they lined the blocks up with the treads, so the battery cover wouldn't get in the way. Otherwise it would have just pushed the blocks ahead of it. I'm looking forward to comparing it to the Mauler, but I'm not nearly ready for that review yet!

the mobat and stalker were my entry into joes. if hasbro started back from scratch, I d forget this tank... other brands did better by now, challengers and abrams to scale, with modest interiors. like you mention, the motor is in the way for having decent fig functions. as a kid, the gimmick wore off quickly while using this piece. while the mauler was better, it had the same flaws. the rubber tracks look realistic, and should stay, but there should be an interior. electrics and electronics don t last, the traditional trend of gi joe is waterproof - rough play. I can question where hasbro puts their priorities sometimes, considering the speaker on the flagg without a hull... forget the 'it s for kids' fairy tale, as a kid, I loved mission impossible, I did nt get all subtleties, but that felt like depth, mystery, of course, I still love it today. such feel is the same for the realistic detail of those collectible toys. I d really like the joes to come back stronger. good work commander!

Do you know how to remove the wheels off 82 mobat, my wheels someone apoxy the wheels to the treads , treads are fine , some suggested using pliers on the front , are the glued to the rod or can they be pulled straight out
@HCC78810 жыл бұрын
I haven't tried to remove the wheels, but if I pick up another Mobat (which I have done from time to time), I'll experiment with the wheels. If I figure it out, I'll do a video about it.

Random video watch late at night trying to sleep for work lol but I wonder why they didn't use this mold or Hawk or if Steeler was designed earlier when the budget was there/expected, (obviously) I wonder what Hawk was meant to look like.
