Taking joyrides in small props is fun, but nothing beats the thrill of flying in big jets!

Those planes are calling me, too! I miss traveling, and being totally blind all my life has never stopped me from traveling up until recently when I had to quit working and after my Guide Dog crossed the rainbow bridge, I could no longer use one, because Atlanta, Georgia has virtually no public transportation that's safe, accessible or affordible for the blind, and the cost of living is just too high! So for now, I'll enjoy being a wannaby traveler. Oh, and yes. I type and read everything using text-to-speech software that speaks to me, so I have no problem with that as long as I have a desktop or laptop. As for smartphones, I use one, but communication other than by telephone with it is far more iffy. So there you have it.

I just watched your video. I think I may try to find a PHX-MIA route on a Boeing 787. I've seen it once, but it was an overnight flight. I think one route you should fly is PHX-ELP. The landings in El Paso are so turbulent, you feel like you are on a roller coaster sometimes.
@AviationManiak2 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I've only seen a PHX - MIA heavy jet once, MAYBE twice, and they were because of a last minute equipment change. I've never seen them actually schedule a PHX - MIA heavy jet. But, it is comes around, go for it! I've tried to book through ELP before on both Southwest and American, but for some odd reason, that routing always seems to be more expensive...

@@AviationManiak It depends where you fly to and what time of year. If you flew to El Paso for a day trip and came back or flew overnight, it'd be cheap to fly there. There is not much to really see in El Paso. Its more or less like Tucson, only its right on the border of Mexico. Tucson is even nicer than El Paso. El Paso is just a more run down version. It'd be better if you connected there and went somewhere else. In the future I plan to fly to El Paso and then connect and go to Houston.

@@AviationManiak mind if I ask what's a heavy jet? We are flying soon, so how would I know if we are on one. And dang, I'd love to make a flight video.

I apologize for not getting back to you sooner! I don't get notifications of replies to comments and I only stumble across them when I scroll through comments. But, to answer your question, a heavy jet is any aircraft that (generally) has more than one aisle and is primarily used for long-haul, international travel. While that is not the official definition of "heavy jet", it is the easiest one to understand. Examples of heavy jets would be the Boeing 747/767/777/787, Airbus A330/A340/A350, but the Airbus A380 is a "super jet" - the only one in said category! Hope this helps and hope you see this!

I'd love to fly a heavy aircraft from Phoenix to somewhere domestic one of these days. It seems Phoenix is more popular for smaller planes compared to DFW, LAX, MIA, and DEN. Not sure why Phoenix can't handle large heavy planes like the Boeing 777 and Boeing 787. They fly these to only London mostly. None are on domestic flights or only are seasonal rather than all the time.
@AviationManiak2 жыл бұрын
It's not so much that Phoenix CAN'T handle the larger planes (FedEx lands a 777 here daily and Atlas brings their 747's on a regular basis), it's more the demand just isn't there versus the other larger American hubs. Also, PHX is a hub for westerly operations (ie. California, Oregon, Washington, Hawaii), where there just isn't demand to fill the larger aircraft, whereas DFW or ORD are central hubs, serving a vast majority of American's network as well as mainland Asia (mostly ORD) and South America (mostly DFW). MIA is a hub for South American, Central American, and Caribbean flights, while PHL is a hub for American flights to Europe. I hope this makes sense!
@Skyvator922 жыл бұрын
@@AviationManiak Yes, that makes sense. The other AA hubs too are also all bigger airports as well.

3:34 Sounds like a siren. Was there a siren on the plane?
@AviationManiak2 жыл бұрын
No, I believe that's the hydraulics system heating up, or air coming back into the cabin after engine start.
@planesofhawaii Жыл бұрын
yea it’s the hydraulics, idk why it happens on the 787
