speedstackingmaniac That's not how it works. If it were something like "A1-A7" then it'll be 6 octaves, but here we have 5 + 2.5 tones.

Dead ass no joke that was a C# 7. But I don't doubt he could actually hit a D7. 😆

Firstname Lastname TBH at the end of the day people can brag about their range all day and night. But unless they use that range to become something of a singer songwriter and use it well.....it's just a vocal range they have and millions of other people have it too. Don't worry about his brag too much.

I agree with you. That is a C#7, I can hear the pitch between C# and D. It's right on the C# pitch.

To anyone saying this doesn't count as his real range, how powerful or non squeaky do you expect a note that's about 4 octaves (16 times the frequency) of roughly his normal speaking range to sound. I find it funny when people argue range with notes like this, because for the most part they're way past anything you'd dream of using in a song or speech. He made the sound on that note, we can debate how good it is later, but he's clearly hit the note, lol.
@havoc7069
@havoc7069 7 жыл бұрын
It should in no way count. He's literally just inhaling air, anyone could hit that note and higher this way and it shouldn't be counted
@Grays_Plays

The idea of notes "counting" to me seems incredibly arbitrary and not really useful in terms of judging vocal range. I've seen people argue that full voice notes in the higher ranges didn't count from singers because they were too "shouty", as if it makes any difference to the fact that they sang those notes, lol. In my opinion it's very simple, Mark has indisputably made noise on that note, so clearly it's part of his vocal range. It's completely up for debate how musical, useful or good a sound we all think it is, but it's still obviously vocal range he's used and when making a list of all the notes he's hit, it should definitely be on the list. David Lee Roth used to inhale to get his high screams, and I would say just because they were done using an inhale doesn't mean at all that they should be discounted in any way, cause it's a completely legit technique if that's the sound you're going for. Van Halen would of sounded very different without that sound.

But then the range doesn't show anything. If you just count noises made from someone's mouth then anyone could have a voice that goes into the 1st or 0 octave with fry and anyone could have a voice that goes into the 7th or 8th octave with inhaled squeaks

Exactly. That is why I personally don't place much value on people with supposed 10 octave ranges. Technically I can get somewhere in the range of 5-6 but it says nothing about my singing abilities just reading it on paper like that. I can still be a crap singer, lol. Every singer gets notes in different ways anyway, so it's hard to judge much about them just from a number on paper. Fundamentally though, all vocalising is is just noises coming out of the mouth, and you're spot on, anyone could have a massive vocal range if they utilised these different types of sound, (smoothing them out and making them musical takes dedication and skill though, no question there.) The objective truth of the matter is if a person can hit a note, then they can hit that note, and whether it's good enough to "count" is completely subjective to the person listening to the sound and is based purely on their taste. It says nothing about a persons "real" vocal range.

And I'm not talking about how good their voice is I'm just talking about their range. Depending on what you classify as range mine is G2 - A#4 or it is G2 - C6 or it is B0 - B7. So which do you consider my range?

The D7 was a squeak, doesn't count until he can sing it properly in the whistle register.

This can hardly be called a note, this has more in common with a jet of compressed air than a person's voice.
@Fluttershyer_

Impressive, but I still think its only like a one time note and not something to count to his useful range. That would be notes he usually do between the first and sixth octaves. Notes that are either well controlled or good sustained. So I don't really wanna count this to his actual range if Im gonna be honest.
@MagicRiverofRadiantBrightness
@MagicRiverofRadiantBrightness 8 жыл бұрын
You do realize that it was not melodic and was only a squeal. So even if it is inconsistent it still doesn't count to his range.
