One time I opened up mine and found out its shaking mechanism sucks. Its like a metal ball that when you shake it, it has to roll along with contacts on the circuit board. If you shake it vertically, like people normally do, it doesn't work. There's a little bit of space so the ball won't even make contact and the shaking won't be recognized by the PET. The best way to shake it is to have the front-side, with the display panel, facing downward, then shake it horizontally. I did this and the PET actually worked properly.

This may have been sent to Gamestop initially, however I never saw it there. I first saw this at literally every KB Toys I walked into when I was a kid. Still pissed I never picked this version up. Did find the Megaman one at Family Dollar for $5 though on a trip the family took so I'm happy I grabbed that one. Even made my own synchro chip.

Thought it was only my family dollar around me back in 2004-5 that was selling these. My ma bought one of those PETs to me during kindergarten. I ain’t know how it worked obviously but it was cool to have as I got introduced to mega man through new grounds and such

There’s a workaround I figured out that’ll allow you to spawn viruses whenever you want. To start, you unscrew and open up your PET (yes you’ll lose all your progress due to disconnecting from the battery but it’s worth it). For those who don’t know, this is part of the shaking mechanism. A metal ball is placed in a styrofoam slot area which hits against the circuit board as you shake you PET, which triggers the viruses to spawn. This here is the trick. First, take the metal ball out. Next, take the smallest metal screwdrivers you can find (best ones usually in glasses repair kits you can find in local stores) and puncture a whole through the styrofoam hole area, gently and carefully as possible. After that you screw your PET back together, without the metal ball as you’ll no longer be needing it. Finally, turn your PET on, and once everything’s in order, take the end of a paperclip, or one of the small screwdrivers you used. Place in the hole you made in the back of you PET, and lightly tap the circuit board repetitively with the paperclip or screwdriver (flathead screwdriver would be best for this part here). And within a few seconds a virus will appear. For those who have a problem with this: 1. If you don’t want to “damage” your PET with the small hole, you can either not do it, or buy another PET to do this on instead. 2. No I don’t think it’s cheating. I consider this a favorable workaround. Besides, the product developers made it to where it can take absolutely forever to spawn a virus, especially when you lose a battle. Along the latter, shaking the PET can get exhausting as well as drive yourself and everyone else crazy. In my opinion, this saves so much time and spares the irritation.

God I use to have THAT version and now regretting giving it away to my friend and never saw it again ;-; Because honestly this thing is a Gem in the ruff and hard as fuck to find (currently looking as I type this), still don't see any being sold of this type what so ever...I need them to realize the battle network series can be brought back with lot of loving fan service I'd love more toys and better functioning pet systems honestly realistic versions and a new game for the switch or something god so much potential for this but no...Thank you for nostalgia lol

So I have the Advanced Pet Personal Terminal still brand new sealed in the box the version with this purple one along with 10 games! I have not been able to really find any info! I’ve read on a thread that it may be a special edition Toys R us exclusive! Can anyone shine any light on how much it may be worth?

My experience with this toy was sheer frustration. Watching the show and buying the toys, I got a few action figures before getting the scanner. I was so upset because I really believed that I'd have a net navi friend to battle my friends with. I remember shaking the thing for hours to heal; shaking it for hours to battle. Horrible toy, completely took advantage of my childhood.

How come some chips just say the cp requirement but others say the full name? Like I have a Protoman that says CP8 but then the same art but it actually says protoman? Is it just a release date based difference?

I had the PET 1 Red version when I was a kid, and honestly I would have had a lot more fun if I didn't have to shake it for 5 minutes to heal or to find a battle. Too bad the PET 2 didn't come to America. I was really into Megaman NT Warrior back then, lol.

Does the American version have different noises than the Japanese version? I noticed they sounded different when i saw the reviews for these. Also, when you lose, can you just use a recovery chip to heal?

I did not notice any differences gameplay wise, and when out of battle you can only recover with subchips(if I'm remembering correctly) or by shaking.

SkeleCraft1021 Subchips are like Subcards, they serve a small purpose outside of battle. You can heal up, unlock certain mystery data, etc.

it's cheaper than the usa ones, and the play the same, and use the same chips, If nothing else, it will make a great display item.
