I don’t really think they killed the Grunge scene, I think it just progressively died down by the mid 1990s, because Kurt died, and meanwhile Pantera had been brewing up heavier and heavier albums before proceeding to annihilate the meaning of heavy metal and make it their own

Wow!! I'm glad there is a few good quality live recordings of these guys. They should've made a live concert "dvd" of them around this time. You can tell Phil is hurting and going to a very dark place and he's using it. Scary almost.

@@kr1stphr death metal is heavy to a point....it's so relentlessly heavy that nothing stands out. If heaviness isn't side by side with something softer then it doesn't hit the same. That's why these Pantera riffs feel heavier. Suffocation are pretty damn heavy alright. Must listen to them again.

THIs is from Blossom Music Center, the first concert I ever went too! Pantera and White Zombie the war of the gargantuans tour, i was like 13. It was awesome, I wish they had the whole show, but they only have this love and walk. But obviously if they did professionally film this show it's got to be there somewhere. There was a lot of fucking energy that night. Then I met them 4 years later and got my dime3 signed by the band. Dimebag even played my guitar. Best day of my life probably.

Phil was in so much pain at this time, he had three ruptured discs in his back and to dull the pain he became addicted to painkillers, muscle relaxants, booze and heroin, not to mention he must have been full of anxiety and depression too. You can really hear his physical and emotional pain in his screams
