I've been listening to this over and over since I lost my 21 year old daughter 5 months ago to cancer - I miss all the times I would have had with her and all the life she could have had - she's still with me in many ways. This song is somehow incredibly cathartic - thank you, guys.

“Love never dies.... Inspired speech will be over some day; praying in tongues will end; understanding will reach its limit. We know only a portion of the truth, and what we say about God is always incomplete. But when the Complete arrives, our incompletes will be canceled. When I was an infant at my mother’s breast, I gurgled and cooed like any infant. When I grew up, I left those infant ways for good. We don’t yet see things clearly. We’re squinting in a fog, peering through a mist. But it won’t be long before the weather clears and the sun shines bright! We’ll see it all then, see it all as clearly as God sees us, knowing him directly just as he knows us! But for right now, until that completeness, we have three things to do to lead us toward that consummation: Trust steadily in God, hope unswervingly and love extravagantly. And the greatest of the three is love.” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭13:8-13‬

Same here !! Lost my dad when I was very young and as I got a little older, I thought if I stayed up late while mom and sis slept, that he would come speak to me !! When I first heard song in 1992 I couldn’t believe it, I thought song was written for me 15 years younger - kills me everytime I hear it

@Danny-se8oi. I waited for decades for my father to give me a nocturnal visit. Then I lost my mother and thought I’d receive one and still no visit. A few years later I was going in for a few serious surgeries and there were my parents appearing before me in a dream they didn’t say anything to me but then I saw my grandmother and grandpa who was always my pal. I thought I was going to cross over to the other side but grandpa gave me a look and with that look I knew that everything was going to be fine and I made a full recovery. Others who I’ve spoken to since have told me that’s what usually happens. Our lost parents and grandparents come to us when we need us most in our most challenging times to assure us that we’re going to be okay.

I love these old videos! Something about the basic grainy video quality... it feels like a fading memory in my mind... no glam on stage - just raw performance... and artists put it all out on the stage. It makes me focus so much more on the music than the bling 4K videos of today. Great stuff from a better time far gone, at least for me.

I remember Pearl Jam being good in 1992 but as the years roll by, it is becoming clear what a megaband they actually were. That Ten album is a masterpiece. This song, "Release Me" is my favorite.

i lost my father not because he passed away, just because of a divorce, what i feel about him was already sung in "my father's son" especially the third verses (even if he's still alive lol) another great song
@GothamandGomorrah
@GothamandGomorrah 2 жыл бұрын
@@Faks.09 "I am myself, like you somehow" are lyrics that hit me to the core. My parents divorced when I was 1. I saw him in visits (only about 2-3 times a year though) up until the age of around 13, when I decided not to see him anymore. We reconnected a few years back (I'm in my late 20's now), and after explaining the things he had missed in my life (a lot unfortunately quite bad). He uttered the words, "Jeez, you really are my son", and went on to explain near parallel occurances in his own life to match the things I was describing. Funnily enough it's my mother and sister I no longer speak to now. My father is visiting next week.

Totally makes sense. This version, at this particular concert is yet by far the best I have heard on You Tube. I love how last week playing @ the Garden in NYC on 9/11 they opened up with this song all sitting down. On such a somber day for New Yorkers, it felt appropriate for the band to ease the crowd into their long awaited performances. The words to this song were so appropriate, just what the audience needed to hear to fully enjoy the show.

By far my favorite song from pj. It’s definitely an experience no matter what kind of relationship you’ve had with your father. My father was extremely abusive in every way. I haven’t seen or spoken to him in 17 yrs. But trauma doesn’t leave you. So it’s like he’s got a hold on me. But I’m slowly killing him(figuratively of course) and this song helps me.
