Say what you will, but that CVT is probably Nissan's best work yet. It's actually pretty responsive and fast (could it be just its lightness that gives that effect?). You have to get used the CVT, just like getting used to stick shift after driving automatic (or vice versa). This only applies to the maxima though, I have driven the Altima and wasn't as impressed with the CVT. Take the Maxima to a curvy back road and put it on manual mode...I'm telling you, it's awesome.

Mario, I had an Altima; currently have a Rogue and a Maxima, and I have to agree with you 100%. I think the V6 pairs really well with Nissan's CVT.

Its a fast car..i owned 2017 maxima the x tronic cvt is fast and smooth response..its always in powerband i race with 2017 v6 charger and 2017 v6 challenger and i beat them twice in drag race..great job nissan..

Vv hese i still have my maxima..race with 2016 wrx subaru stick shift lastnight 50mph up to 100mph rolling race..and my maxima destroyed the 2016 WRX subaru and that was all wheel drive with stick shift..i destroyed him 3times in the race..so this maxima is no joke its fast , powerful engine..

I have 2007 maxima - upgraded suspension/exhaust/intake/wheels - Insanely quick and so fun to drive. In love. Smashes the VQ35 skylines with rwd/automatic or manual

Came a long way since my 04 Black on Black Maxima SE 180000 KM ,dont laugh its paid for and still pretty fast and the front end looks more like a Z and all round less like a Boat .

Biggest thing i noticed were the breaks and rotors are too small lol, stopping isn't a strong area in these. The weight is another factor im sure.

In the audio screen the pre sets are at the bottom of the screen go to the station u want and go to the preset number that u want that station to be and press and hold and that preset on the touch screen till u hear a beep.

I would take the Dodge Charger Hellcat but at $70k ill get the Maxima SR.. I think the edge of reliable manual transmission it's over. The beautiful sound of the V6 of the maxima paired with a manual stick shift would be an orgasm for anybody.

Why do they keep choosing a CVT. Is it just cheaper to make? I would assume that just having more gears would give the opportunity to find more ratios that will improve fuel economy but will more moving parts make the car more expensive? Maybe that's why?🤔

I understand the CVT comments for sure, however, after driving my Nissan since 2011 i'm also a fan of them. It's a different driver for sure. Im not looking to race, simply just like having that power if i need it. The only complaint i have, well there is two : The launch is where the most noticeable change and problem arises for me. The way it feels like slip vs just grab and go, it can make you feel as though you may break it. I can assure you that after 200k miles on mine still feels just as good as day one, and no problems except for the #2 problem i have with CVT, and that is the dam fail safe on my transmission never made sense to me. Cool the dam thing if you must use them lol...!

Great review! You've helped me make up my mind about getting one of these for myself. While I do appreciate the water bottle in the door to illustrate the fact that the car comes equipped with bottle pockets, but could you not be bothered to clean out trash and empty cups from the floorboard before taking pictures?

RockSteady67 I have the platinum version which has the sunroof and I made it have the midnight edition package on it. Same exact thing, just doesn’t have the shift paddles. But you can manually shift with the gear shifter

@@dylanheath6176 How exactly did you "make it have the midnight edition"? I'm seriously asking. I'm torn between the SR Midnight or the Platinum (not bothering with a normal SR). I just LOVE the ALL black look of the car, but I hate not having a sunroof or 360 bird's view camera.
