I have a 2019 high country and my dad has a 2020 big horn. Personally, I prefer the high country. The seats sit much lower in the Chevy, the front floor board is actually pretty flat whereas the floor panels in the ram are very narrow on driver and passenger sides. The pedals are too far towards the middle and my right foot doesn’t agree with the driving angle. And the mirrors sit back a bit too far to me in the ram. I do like the power and ride in the ram and it is a great truck. But over the road for long hauls, these things are important to make sure the truck fits you personally. Dad and I both do hot shot hauling with bumper pulls and goosenecks.

Maybe the Chevy is more apples to the 3500 Ram, powerwise, payload, and ride. I'd still prefer the Ram 2500. In a couple years, the pwoer output will change, it always does.

Nah, they need to swap the trans out and put something better in there. That’s why it’s tuned down, because those trans are junk. Ram/dodge has always had a weak transmission. With that said, since gm isn’t using an Allison built trans anymore, I’m a little worried. Seen a lot of videos about trans problems on this. The older body style still has an Allison.

First, I really appreciate your Dad's opinion on his thoughts about the Chevy. I'm a GM guy. Its hard to go against the grain, when your father retired from GM. It's all what you have been around. Plus the discount helps when buying new.! I feel that maybe GM might bring a coil spring back to the rear. And if so, most people will say that they are copying Ram. But they had that back in the 60's and early 70's. On their half tons. So, I guess we will see what happens in the future design. The interior of the GM is Dated. But that's about to change finally too.! I actually prefer not to have a huge screen. Too much technology as if we don't have enough distractions already while driving.!! My wife's 2017 Grand Cherokee has everything through the screen. I take my eyes off the road for far too long just to adjust the seat heat.! Or turn off heated steering wheel. It's a pain when you don't drive it every day. I guess I just like when trucks were just trucks. And not trying to be a luxury car. I have a 2015 GMC crew cab half ton Z71. I've put 1200 lbs more in the bed than it was rated for. Not for a long time, but still. Yeah it flexed the frame a bit , but everything was fine after it was unloaded of wet road gravel. It's a truck.! Everyone called me nuts for doing so. But hey I didn't buy a 5 seater grocery getter. Lol.

The Rams tow rating doesn't add up, it's got 2100lb. payload but a 19k tow capacity? Any person with common sense knows you should have at least 10% tongue weight on a trailer, that means at 19k you have 1900lb. of tongue weight and that leaves no room for people and gear in the truck.

Both are nice Trucks but , I would buy the Silverado H.D. I don't think I would like the Rear coil springs on a New truck. If you're only concerned about what the interior looks like well then , Your buying for looks Only with the Ram. When I look at buying a Truck the first and most important things I look for in a truck is What am I going to be doing with the truck? Hauling and Towing ? Payloads, Hauling heavy loads like Firewood, Heavy Furniture, Gravel, Sand etc. Pulling Heavy Trailers such as Boat trailers , Car hauler trailers etc. If I was concerned about what it Looked like inside and a Smooth ride I would probably go with a Nice Cadillac or Buick.

Serious question here, and it revolves around payload and the constant debate of 3/4 ton trucks being under rated. I understand GM raised the GVWR of their 3/4 ton trucks, to just over 11K, effectively raising the payload rating. Was this done artificially, or did they engineer upgraded components on the truck? Because this will squash the arguments over ram 2500 owners being overloaded in some applications and whether the rating is more artificial and red tape, than by engineering. Great videos by the way. Thank you.

Look at the combined axle weight ratings - minus curb weight. That’s closer to a true payload number.

That ram is absolutely gorgeous in every way; paint, body colored bumpers, rims, interior etc. The chevy has the edge in powertrain though, so I guess I'd have to agree with your dad 100% in this video. They chevy is an ugly duckling but will get the job done a little more easy and a little more crudely. When you're not towing though, the Ram wins hands down so it's just a matter of how badly you need the extra power/weight/headroom that the chevy gives you.

Chevy all day & it’s the best looking. Ram can do interior all day - too bad they can’t do engines and power-trains.
@JohnSmith-ev1sm3 жыл бұрын
@@wint_62 Don't make me laugh, the chevy looks like a chrome turd with a plastic interior. As for powertrain, you might want to look at the 3500 to see how badly chevy gets their shit handed to them by Ram. This is simply a packaging/marketing detail, Ram feels the 2500 is capable enough with the current drive train and if you need more you move up to the Ram 3500 which is currently the most powerful truck around.

Thank God Chevy did color match a few of their models, because that HUGE chrome beast of a front grill is freakin’ ugly. Chrome is dead. And still they upcharge for the blackout. And I'm a Chevy guy. Oh, brother. Today, dad’s Ram has the better look. Black is beautiful. Chevy wins with the "Step-side" solution - and the "Spec" sticker! And - heads up display, payload, Ram wins with the mirrors, smoother ride, auto trailer length indicator, and the better value with the best engine and towing capacity. There really is no better engine than the Cummins, but the Chevy payload presents a quandary. It may be necessary to bump up to the Ram 3500HD to eliminate the payload shortfall. That’s really where the rubber meets the road. The Ram is the overall better puller, but the payload could be a deal breaker. Excellent comparison! Keep it up guys!

We run both ram and chev 1 tons. Both are great trucks for what we do but the rams out perform the GM’s in almost every aspect except fuel usage which is close but the GM’s are better, and DEF usage which the GM’s blow the ram out of the water with. The ram interiors are on a whole other level too. Far nicer and much more comfortable, the GM interior is stuck in 2006

For me I like a lot of the touches of the Chevy like the side step and the bumper step. I really don't need the Diesel, so I would opt for a gas engine in either one and there I would probably go for the Ram since the Chevy requires premium fuel for the 6.2 engine. The interior isn't important to me at all. I have a 2000 model truck now and the interior is just fine. I want rubber floors, crank windows and manual locks with cloth seats. Same with these big screens on the dash. I could do without any screen at all. The only reason I would ever use a camera would be to hook up a trailer. Finally though the looks of the Chevy is just hideous. No way I could look at that every time I got out of it without throwing up. For my needs I would probably opt for the Ford with the 7.3 gas engine standard cab and an eight foot bed.

The gas option is a 6.6 liter and it doesn't require premium. The 6.2 is for the 1500
