I do shit like this everyday. Thats an LN series any main from the 42,47,50 and 55 will work. The main for the LB series will work too but the back cover has different port locations. You can also upgrade them to smart but the LVDS ribbon has to be changed too because its too short, the back cover has different port locations as well. The screen works on any model between LN,LB and LF, whether its 3d or not.

so this TV, the lcd panel is capable to display full-hd even though it is a hd model.

From my understandig, the TV was 1080p then got struck by lightning so he bought a HD version of the board and placed on a connector for a FullHD panel. Therefor converting a HD capable board to a FullHD capable one

This happens when you try and have sex with your TV. Don't do it! A HDMI port can burn out due to the device plugged into it, or a bad/cheap cable.

He is not changing the pixels in the screen but rather feeding a full hd screen with a full hd signal which for some reason is optional.I find it strange also.
