Yet, my labs this week showed my HDL stayed in the 60s, dLDL raised to 108 from 74, triglycerides went from 98 to 60, total cholesterol rose from 146 to 170, VLDL is 12, glucose 89, A1C 5.2, and I reversed Hashimoto’s naturally. My doc was shocked when he saw my LDL even tho I am feeling perfectly healthy and I am lean, strong and muscular. This explains perfectly that my high LDL is simply due to my body burning a lot of fat for fuel, so it needs a lot of these lipoproteins in the blood. Modern medicine is a cruel joke.

Never had a cholesterol issue in my life up until 3 months ago where it was 161. Dr said it needs to come down or I'll have to go on medication. He gave me 3 months to bring the levels down. I've been eating steaks, bacon, sausages, cheeseburgers and whatever else high fat foods you can think of. I completely stopped eating red meat and ate salmon, white fish, oat meal, apples, trail mix and avocados. Also, for 1 week I boiled a pot of hot water, crushed up some fresh ginger, lemon pieces, garlic, and cinnamon stick. Let it boil for 5-10 minutes and pour it into a strainer and into a coffee cup. Add honey and drink. It's pretty good.. Now throughout the 3 months I occasionally ate bad here and there but didn't go crazy. Just went in to the Dr today, drew blood and got the results back. New LDL is 119. All my other levels are gold as well within the range it needs to be in. So, the answer is the foods I have listed above. If you eat high fat just make sure you intake fiber to push the snowflakes out of the arteries. See ya bad LDLs! Had re-edit to remind you within 3 months I had a 42 point reduction. That is phenomenal. I took this serious especially having a young friend who passed away from having a heart attack.

Good info. I’ve always had a high metabolism. I got on local fire department 40 years ago. Shortly after getting on the department started doing annual physicals. From the very start about 38 years ago I was told I had high ldl and I needed to start taking statins. I refused! I’m not one to run to pharmaceuticals to correct a problem. More exercise more dieting. The next year my ldl shot up over100 more points. Doctors said I needed statins more than ever. Told me I would die soon if I didn’t get my cholesterol down. I refused. About 18 years ago my department doctors sent me to get a heart scan, said they saw something on heart graph while I was on treadmill. They were going to get me to take statins one way or another. After my heart scan I waited to find results and to get paper work for the department doctors. The doctor came out with the findings. First she asked me why I was there. I told her why and she laughed. She said I had the heart and arteries of a 20 year old. I was in my late 50’s. I thank her and delivered the paper work. To this day I am still being told that I need t be on statins. The doctors just don’t get it! Oh, and I still refuse. This video just says what I’ve known all along.

It is a pretty good overview of the subject, and I didn't notice any glaring technical inaccuracies. There are plenty of researchers whose material can be watched on KZbin that go into greater detail and cover more of the nuances on the subject of "cholesterol" and heart disease: Dave Feldman, Ivor Cummins, Ben Bikman, Peter Attia, David Diamond, Paul Mason, etc. I encourage everyone to watch a few of their videos about cholesterol and cardiovascular disease to gain a thorough understanding.
@andreafalconiero90895 жыл бұрын
@@sadielong3021 You're welcome. I particularly recommend listening to Dave Feldman. He's an engineer/programmer rather than a doctor, so I find that he presents the information in a very clear way without a lot of unnecessary technical jargon that can be confusing to non-doctors (of course there is still plenty of _necessary_ technical jargon!). He's also not biased by the sort of preconceptions and dogmas on the subject of cholesterol that get drilled into doctors in med school which often prevents them from thinking clearly. Dr. Paul Mason is another person who is quite easy to follow, and has some great videos about cholesterol (see in particular: "High cholesterol on a ketogenic diet"). Peter Attia has good information, but it's pretty advanced stuff. For debunking the diet heart hypothesis and the purported benefits of statins, David Diamond does a great job. On the subject of CAC (coronary artery calcium) tests and their role in diagnosis, Ivor Cummins is the guy to listen to. On the mechanisms of how insulin and glucagon control blood sugar, Ben Bikman is the expert. For general issues related to nutritional biochemistry, Chris Masterjohn is another great source of information.

@donwinston3 жыл бұрын
Are you kidding? HDL means nothing. LDL means everything. If you have high LDL your chances of getting sick or dying from heart disease is enormous. Triglycerides are bad too of course. Lots of fat is unhealthy. It doesn't matter what kind of fat it is. Some fats are just less unhealthy. Eating large amounts of dietary cholesterol increases your LDL levels unless you already have high cholesterol. Thomas is off the rails. It has been proven a zillion times that high LDL leads to heart disease. "Fluffy" LDL is less harmful then the small LDL but it is still bad! This is crazy. Lowering it lowers chances of getting heart disease. Drug companies have to prove this to show that statins are effective. They've done it a zillion times.

I don't take the pills, but I stopped the keto diet. I have been in fear of high cholesterol, since it runs rampant in my family , but I have a better understanding of how my cholesterol works because of this video. Does a family history of cholesterol matter when it comes to the keto diet? Also, when I was on the keto diet, I did not eat healthy fats: ground turkey, cheese, bacon, etc. I lost weight, but I didn't eat enough greens. Do you know any nutritionists who specialize in the keto diet? I live in Burbank, California and would love to see someone who can help me do this diet in a much more healthy way.

The triglycerides are bad because it causes inflammation of the body and more over it oxidizes the LDL cholesterol which are transportation for the cholesterol. Remember there's no much thing as "good" or "bad" cholesterol because they are lipid proteins.
@andreafalconiero90895 жыл бұрын
Triglycerides are not bad _per se_ -- they are metabolic fuel. However, if you have a *fasting* blood test (12 hours fasted) and your triglyceride numbers are still high, that is a bad sign. There should only be low levels of trig in the bloodstream in the fasted state. This is because if your body is working properly, trig is getting transported and _delivered_ to cells that need energy, and only limited amounts are in transit at any given time in the fasted state. If there's still a lot of fat in the bloodstream, it suggests that there is probably a lot of damaged LDL particles (oxidized/glycated LDL) carrying around this fat with no place to "dock" to deliver the triglycerides. This pathological condition is almost always caused by excess sugar, and especially fructose (fruit sugar) in the bloodstream. Note that only a *fasting* blood glucose test has any evidential value at all. For several hours after a fatty meal, your blood will be carrying around huge amounts of trig that's been picked up from the digestive system and is being transported in the blood via chylomicrons (the supertanker of lipoproteins!). This is perfectly normal and healthy.
