Always glad to see another MultEQ-X video from you, Carl! I've been using MEQ-X for a while now and I didn't realize one could measure each speaker individually like you showed. I think I may try this out while keeping the microphone tip perpendicular to each speaker. I have a feeling I may be able to get much better response on my center this way since my center is positioned similar to yours and with the mic pointed at the ceiling it is definitely not at 90 degrees to the speaker. Hopefully I can test that out tomorrow.

It's a great feature, so much potential, it just needs some tweaks to make it useful for a wider range of content, the rules it was designed around don't really exist any more, it's the wild west now 😅 Quick question, would you be interested in making a video on the accuracy of the ACM1HB Audyssey Mic using OCA's ACM1HB_90deg_calibration file in REW vs your UMIK-2? Obviously the UMIK-2 is a better mic but would be interesting to see how far off the Audyssey Mic is using OCA's Mic Calibration file, from what I understand there are variances in all Microphones. @@hdmoviesource Thanks, you're the only one on KZbin I can find doing these "What If" videos, I'm very like-minded, I really enjoy experimenting and seeing what's possible! I have not purchased MultEQ-X yet, but I plan to within the next month. I've already created a new hotmail email address using non-personal info, so I can bundle in the licence if I ever do sell my current AVR to recoup some of the cost and reinvest in the app.

Great video, I do similar workflow with REW to create my own EQ and then use MultEQ-X to import. Why your surrounds were shown about 3 to 5 dB, perhaps DEQ was accidentally enabled?

That was my initial thought too, but if DEQ was enabled there would have actually been a noticeable house curve on the bass

Nice. Yeah, I'm looking to do another calibration soon, and really go hard with it. First import and max resolution 96, and find out where it goes to 3hz apart, which I think is around 250hz. Then export another text file at 48 and keep getting as much resolution out of the text files as possible. It will take time, but I'm willing to do it. I'm also thinking about having a slightly different music calibration vs movie. So, there's lots to do, LOL. Thanks Dagrk.

Hello Carl, don´t get me wrong but do you control the mic from the denon, with messuring with the umik 2 ? Uncalibrated to calibrated.... maybe the umik 2 has a more accurate look on 10k and above. Like your videos 😊

For the Denon it's using the Audyssey mic, and when I measure from the PC I use the UMIK 2. I use a calibration file for the UMIK. I definitely think the UMIK is more accurate Michael.

Multeq-x is an absolute gem if you are into fine tuning. I would not own a Denon/Marantz receiver without including this.

What level should the speakers be set at?

around 75 to 80db. I typically choose 75db, but been testing 80db. I use headphones to protect my ears, just incase it's too loud.

I wonder if going to the more expensive Dirac Live would save time in the long run?

It' possible, but if Dirac can't give somebody like me all this control, I'm not sure. Can you calibrate individual channels?

@@Yakena1 yeah. If you like to tinker and experiment I think MQX is the best. If you want to let the room correction software do it all, I believe Dirac will be the best choice.

Hiya. Dirac user here. Be very careful if you are a Umik and Mac owner. Dirac is now NOT compatible using the Umik and Mac. Do a search and you’ll see. The mini dsp forum is full of disgruntled owners and have had very poor support.
