IMO he destroyed ALIENS with the overuse of DNR. It looks like a fan edited it or something

He'll think it's bad because he despises grain.

It s gritty because it suits the atmosphere of the film... But grain can sometimes be a distraction and frankly annoying. There, I said it.

Getting to see the grain fully intact this time is so refreshing after dealing with the DNR mess of the Miramax Blu Ray. Definitely picking this one up today

What's the crazy thing is when you realize Paramount isn't very good with 4K releases. Glad to see they got this one right.

@@movietv20249 I think they've actually been killing it the past couple of years - the Star Trek original movies, Sleepy Hollow, Beverly Hills Cop, Dragonslayer, Red Eye, Addams Family, Indiana Jones (all 4 movies look and sound incredible), all the Mission movies, Jack Ryan movies...I think their blu rays have been hit and miss and most of the aformentioned 4K's had previous blu ray releases that were slathered in DNR and had poor bitrates, but their 4K's of late have been pretty stellar.

@@movietv20249 The color on the 4k is very in consisted. I rather have the blu-ray for the color. Even the example in the pawn shop you can notice the color on the 4k is dull.

@@passthesalt2000 Red Eye looked really good in 4K. Sleepy Hollow was decent. Pulp Fiction was good as well. But the others I don't think are that great.

Complete grain structure, more fine detail, more detail in shadows and high lights... A neat 4K transfer. Oh, and no sign of fancy revisionist color correction. This is the kind of products 4K physical format enthusiasts want. WE WANT THIS.

And Paramount's 4Ks are usually terrible. I'm glad they did not mess up the restoration of The Crow on 4K.

Fine detail yes but the color changes throughout the transfer.

No, black levels are too bright. Shadows are lifted. Increase in exposure will show more grain. Also there’s a green tint over eveything now. WE DON’T WANT THIS.

@@sunnyschramm9650 I only care about how good the film looks compared to the blu ray. And, obviously, it is far superior. The fact I did not even notice the cropping and “wrong” framing shows how inconsequential those details really are.

@jonathanaldecoa10998 ай бұрын
I also got the combo steel book and yes the 1080p is based of the 4K scan! I’ve seen the old blu ray many many times and could tell right away with the grain back into the image. Only problem is, the 1080p doesn’t include the bonus material. So I’ll still keep my old blu ray for those. 👽

You can obviously see the increase in resolution, and more color saturation. This is why you make a 4k disc, so you can have better resolution. Do I wish it was brighter than 270 nits in some shots? Yes. Fire, sparks, explosions, I want that stuff higher than 270ish nits, but that's not a reason to stop me from buying this disc.

I'm glad Paramount did this restoration correctly. Paramount isn't very good with a lot of their 4Ks.
@bradb2a898 ай бұрын
Looks like a slight upgrade in resolution. Also sitting at sdr levels of brightness (not knocking it for that, maybe that's how it was intended) so I don't see any sense in upgrading. I'm not blown away, you know. I'll wait for the price to drop.

When Paramount, one of the worst companies for 4K transfers, does an amazing job on this restoration The Crow instead of how James Cameron messed it up with using A.I. on Aliens and True Lies on 4K.
