Great videos. Been a longtime FDM watcher but I’m over by Savannah so it’s great to have a warm weather scholar passing knowledge now. I have a couple questions..do you still use the triple wall as I haven’t seen it in any of your other videos and it seems you prefer SDR35. My assumption is the only advantages to triple is it’s a bit cheaper than SDR35 and if you’re somewhere with a mild freeze risk you’d get some flex with a smooth wall pipe and not pay N12 prices. Random question, I don’t see you using catch basins either, is that because they’re not needed if your using SDR35 like they would be for corrugated because the risk of clogging with shingle gravel is significantly less with the smooth wall pipe? Appreciate the time you take to make these videos.

Thanks for the video. You say for the last part you used schedule 20 pvc bc it wasn’t deep. Is that bc it has stronger crush resistance? Also, if connecting to a wye and not on the same plane, is there a trick to angling it down from a higher level to the wye at lower depth, in the main line?

I really enjoy your videos. They are very informative. This is the only video I have found on this HDPE triple wall drainage pipe. I’m just about ready to put in a french drain using HDPE perforated pipe. Do you recommend using it? I am on a tight budget but don’t want to do it twice… What do you think?

How do you deaylight a pipe if you are working against the negative slope? My starting point is about 8inch deep and at the end, becasue I need to make proper slope, it would be ~18 inches.

In a situation where you will be running out of slope too quickly or end up being to deep at your discharge end, then a sump pump system might be the answer.

For gutter drainage systems in climate zones that freeze, is there concern for cracking/splitting of the PVC joints when using the 4 inch PVC sewer fittings with the double or triple wall HDPE drainage pipe - and if so, are there any other types of connectors that could be used? Also - do you think triple or double-wall HDPE is more durable for long run gutter drainage systems in the north in an area with lots of trees? Thanks again!

The pvc joints should be fine because they are not solvent welded to triple wall. The Hdpe glue and tile tape has give to them. So this allows the joint to move with the freeze and thaws. Dual wall in a northern climate on a downspout system is an excellent choice. Dual wall is stronger than triple wall.

Are you using the built on bell for straight connections or cutting it off to use a pvc couple?

We are using the bell end that comes on the triple wall. Just make sure you check that it’s secure because sometimes in shipping they can get knocked around and loosen up.

Yes, they are 4” PVC sewer fittings.

can you use HDPE for sump pump discharge? the HDPE glue says NOT FOR PRESSURE. is a sump ok?

Sump pump is under pressure so I wouldn’t recommend using it for that application.

No need as this is not a French drain system. It’s solid pipe the full way through.

If your on a tight budget then triple wall pipe is going to be the most affordable option. But I would use either dual wall corrugated pipe or a high quality single wall corrugated pipe.
