If I phoned my greengrocer and said "hello mate, here's my life story... now that's out the way, can you bag me up a couple of turnips and I'll try and pop in to get them when I come out of the pub on Saturday night", he'd unsurprisingly tell me to piss off.

The bar end indicators, the important thing is that they fulfil the legal requirements in the MOT regs for distance visibility and the Construction and Use requirements for distance from the frame and centre of the bike to prevent yiu getting a ticket from a copper. If its OEM on a vehicle sold in the UK and breaks construction and use requirements that will have a Type Approval for that specific thing. So there's no guarantee you can do a thing just because a company does it. Mirror indicated indicstors are legal on some bikes but whether they are actualy legal for anyone to put in a bike... Is more complicated. The ONLY Way to tell on a custom bike is to take it through SVA approval. (which most of Dels bikes SHOULD HAVE because they are at the extensive frame modification level.) so the only answer is I don't know. The Motogadget stuff is actually pretty good, the M-unit kit is really solid, the bar end indicators have ECE and TUV approval sooo the best answer you can get is 'probably'. The front approval only is because of the German TUV regs which are... A very specific set of regs and more restrictive than the UK regs. Also that bike rack... Fuck me and I thought the wheelchair mounts that use the pillion seat space could be sketchy.

Being able to get bikes direct from the manufacturer rather than being forced into dealing with them by law would be nice as would being able to buy and access the tools needed that the dealers make inaccessible via insane prices (15k to purchase the software to get a vehicle to recognise a part iv installed or clear codes off the dash after the repair so it doesn't fail an mot for having an error code and needing to buy a laptop at 4x what it's worth from them to run it.) would be much nicer nicer. Right to Repair and forced to make it possible for independant to compete. The manufacturer franchise dealers are an issue.
@gamekeeper687 Жыл бұрын
@@jediknight1294I mean the specific issue you mentioned isn’t a thing on bike MOTs as engine lights aren’t failures as such, but I get your point. Systems like TEXA are great for indies but they don’t hold to a manufacturers own diagnostics
@jediknight1294 Жыл бұрын
@@gamekeeper687 it's an issue though, the car side any error code on the dash is an mot fail regardless of what that issue is or if its been fixed. So a BMW which needs a new tpms sensor you replace the fucked on and then have to go pay a dealer to flash the code because the private mechanic and most independant can't swing the 20k it costs for the software. Bikes are fairly simple but.. Eventually we will get the same fucked rules as the aim of various groups is to make cheap vehicles les prevelant and harder to own your own transport in general has become the policy. We need a right to repair law that actually forces this stuff to be accessible and not in the American way if 100$ charge for one time use for one vehicle that their rtr law ended with the manufacturers offering.

@@jediknight1294 I’m not disagreeing mate we’re on the same side I get what you’re saying, and I’m from the main dealership big brand world. About those indicators, I don´t know, if you are concerned with the position, scratching or breaking and the cost, why now leaving regular indicators with a bulb in the body or somewhere in the front end with a bulb that you can change for less than 1 pound without the need for the circuitry for led turn signals... Edit: I suppose it won´t weight similar to the bar end weights, another thing why I don´t like bar end mirrors or signals.
