Can confirm that the BestBuy Geek Squad protection does indeed cover burn-in/image retention. I had the 5 year plan on my 2016 LG OLED C6P that started to go bad in the center of the display and at the end of additional warranty timeframe I upgraded through the protection plan to a 2021 LG OLED C1. Paid the difference in the cost of the 2 displays so I was only out about $400 and I got a massive increase in brightness and a bump in screen size.

Did you game on your C6P? How would you describe the burn in?
@DasTechGuy Жыл бұрын
@@paws315 I gamed on it for basically the entire 5 years using XBOX One X, a PS4 Pro, and a PC. Had no complaints at all for the gaming experience. The burn-in actually started from Assassin’s Creed Origins given how insane the brightness for the HDR was in that game at times. To that end, it was in the middle of the display and unless you had a orange-ish/yellow-ish color around the middle of the display it wasn’t really that obvious to see. I noticed it but if you were to ask my wife she would have been oblivious.
@paws315 Жыл бұрын
@@DasTechGuy thanks! Odyssey was on my backlog, now I'm second guessing it. Is HDR even worth it 🤔
@DasTechGuy Жыл бұрын
@@paws315 Oh absolutely! HDR is a game changer! To clarify, I ran AC: Origins within the first couple hundred of hours of run time on the display. Those first few hundred hrs are super crucial for settling the panel and it is far more susceptible to burn-in. After about 300 hrs or so, the OLED panel will have settled and will be far less susceptible to things going bad quickly. Not saying it’s then completely safe but so long as you don’t have the brightness completely cranked to 100% and leave a static image on-screen for 20+ minutes without any interaction at all your chances for severe burn-in is lessened considerably. LG made a ton advances for the display panel in later models and from the 2019 models on the risk for burn-in keeps getting less and less even from the get-go.

So many caveats with each TV. C3 loses lighting during game mode. C3 apparently has very noticeable color banding in game mode. C3 has worse color uniformity, but a polarized screen which looks black in all conditions. C3’s screen will look like a mirror in some conditions. S90C will have very obvious macro blocking and artifacts when streaming or using low bitrate content. S90C has the sluggish menu and apparently less color accuracy. S90C may have raised black levels in ambient lighting like a CRT. A80L has lower input lag and aggressive ABL. Do you get the S90C for the insane pop and wow factor when gaming? Or the C3 for a better overall picture when streaming and less frustrating software? It’s like Sophie’s Choice trying to pick a mid-range OLED for me.

@makoto5280 Well, it's usually quite helpful if you have a perspective in relation to other models. If Vincent says:"Model X handles near black pretty good", for example, it would be helpful to know what exactly that means. How much difference does it actually make if you put it next to model Y. When I bought my last TV (a 2020 model) he did those kind of videos to compare the models of the time. I was buying either the LG CX, Sony A8 or Panasonic HZ 1000 and Vincent's "vs- videos" were very helpful for that decision.
@floz9718 Жыл бұрын
@makoto5280 Vincent actually reveiled/found out more details quite a few times in the comparisons/vs-videos. Either because he went into more detailes the second time around or there was some kind of update in the meantime.
@floz9718 Жыл бұрын
@makoto5280True - it doesn't. However, it's pretty much the best one can do for deciding which TV to buy alongside with reading impressions of actual owners on the common froums. Comparing TVs in a brightly light store is pretty much useless ime. I have a store nearby which has all the major flaggships on display and I can tinker with them in the store (aka putting them in FMM and watch some YT- demos) and honestly, in these lighting conditions all Oleds look pretty much the same. The QD-Oleds did look a bit punchier/more colourful and I coudl see the raised blacks on the QD-Oleds but other than that it's hard separate them (I didn't see the G3 with MLA in person yet though). The areas I am interested in like near black presentation, accurate/natural colours and brightness detail/dynamic range are simply not showing in a bright store, you have to watch them in a dark room to judge that.

This comparison comes pretty well on time now that we are almost in the 8th month of the year. Finally we see OLEDs with proper EOTF tracking and a lot less black detail crushing, it is like they left the child shoe and are wearing almost adult shoes on the OLEDs side of things.

Is this particularly for 24fps content, or is it just overall? I tend to run my displays with all motion processing off; so wondering if all 3 manufacturer would be on about the same level regarding native OLED motion performance. Also, even with all motion processing turned off, is there some proprietary base motion processing going on which differentiate them at the most basic level? Hmmm...there is one open question I have after watching this Video...what exactly is wrong with Samsung's motion processing? Does it create more motion interpolation artifacts than the LG counterpart? More stutters? Or what? In my personal experience Sony motion processing was never particularly great. It was either stuttery or flooded with artifacts. LG was terrible in the past, but managed to catch up quite well, Philips and Panasonic were very good. Not sure where Samsung stands these days...

S90C owner here. Yes, SDR, content (or upscaled HD) is rather flawed. In my opinion, it has some artifacts and grainy stuff - dont know how to even explain. In short, there are some deficiencies when watching some content from ESPN or Sling for example. BTW, I have my TV configured based on reddit where I have all the artificial image processing turned off. I have no dynamic contrast, color at 25, sharpness at 0, no picture clarity, warm2 color tone, color space 709, gamma negative 1,peak brightness and energy savings off - SDR mode. HDR, on the other hand, is absolutely stunning imho.

Just found out Costco is offering 5 year warranties on TV's. Best Buy can't touch that deal. Not to mention visiting Best Buy recently we were shocked at how tragic the showroom was. Time to put that membership to use!
@nachik09 Жыл бұрын
Lol what mate? The Costco warranty does not cover burn in. It's covered by square trade. Costco warranty doesn't touch the Bestbuy one.

? It says right in this video that BB's warranty is 5 years.

Did you figure out how to disable TPC and GSR on the LG 2023 OLEDs?

He mentioned in another video, that LG pushed an update which fixed the TPC from dimming HDR scenes. But, didn't sound like you could disable it entirely.

Hey.. Im very much confused between these 2 Tv’s.. LG has 3yrs warranty and Samsung has 2yrs. LG built quality is little better than Samsung i think (due to S90c laser slim panel😅).. So very confused between these two when it comes to Reliability, Long Term usage issues, service, burning, flickering, etc etc.. Also heard that some of the S90C users have been facing those above type of issues and response lagging,etc etc after few months and also after warranty🙆🏻♂️. Can you please help me out to get out of this situation and finalize one😅.

S94bd? Is that worth a look? I was about to pick up an s95b but this looks the same. Vincent, any news on this model?
@zr1cvette Жыл бұрын
It’s an S95B,But for BestBuy. As the Sony advisor at my bestbuy near me, I have discussed this with our Samsung advisor. Says the S94BD is essentially the S90C/S95C. He says 1599 plus a 300 gift card is a no brainer. Says the dumb one connect box and the few extra speakers on back are the only difference from 95B to 95C. Says those aren’t worth an extra 1400 at all.

Should get down to that or close, around Oct/Nov. The only issue with that, is that the new TV models are just a few months away lol. I always wait and see what the new TVs have to offer at CES and then decide if I want an older model or not. Nothing like buying something new and having regret a few months later.
@badzilla1173 Жыл бұрын
@micker9830 I don't know what samsung or lg could really do though for upgrades. I might see samsung adding a dedicated heatsink like I'm sure the a95l will have this year. Phosphor blue won't be a thing till atleast 2025. Only thing I can see lg doing might be going too 144hz themselves or if they're really itching for the gaming crowd, 240hz at a lower res since I'm not seeing much on a new hdmi format too match display port 2.1 . I feel like next year might be one of those somewhat stagnant years for tvs again.

If you have AAA the 77" s90c is $1999 directly from Samsung. Best Buy won't price match that though if you want to buy through them for the burn-in warranty.
