I run HDZero and it suites me well. I went with HDZero primarily because of how engaged Carl is with the community. I am also a tech geek that likes to build and tinker, I prefer the fast pace of open source (and HDZero in general). If I was a "set it and forget it" type of guy that was all about flying I might have gone another direction.

HdZero is a win for me...I bought the (expensive) Skyzone O4x right before the the dji v2 goggle price crash, and that was a swift kick. I love my skyzones and fly fpv in open areas, so to be able to drop this system into my existing quads and my O4x without too much effort or cash seems to be the better deal.

I switched form analog to walksnail (the system is actually walksnail and not fatshark ;)) and I'm very happy with it. But I have also looked at and tried DJI goggles V2 and it would have also been nice... my decision was purely for the smaller goggles with adjustable diopter. And not having to register etc. I will also most probably be getting the HD-Zero goggles as I like how the system is developed and the light weight solutions. Btw. walksnail has also announced to develope a VRX module for Fatshark, Skyzone etc. goggles. I think it's great to have the choice of all systems with HD-zero and Walksnail seeming to develope a lot directly for the fpv community and DJI (wich in my opinion is not sure if they are focusing at all on fpv with their new system). So chose what you like and enjoy our great hobby ;)

@@nullfield1126 You need a DJI account for basically any of their products / apps you want to use. There are a few people that just don‘t like the company for their methods, handling of their employees or the sale of Aeroscope systems that seem to have been misused and resulted in war crimes. So I think the thing with the account is not so in focus.

I'm really thinking that the industry should move to a system where goggles and the actual receivers are split, and are inter-replaceable, like it is with transmitters and bays in the back of them, which allow to install, say, a TBS Crossfire into a Taranis really easily(just pop out the back cover and put the module in). It will greatly increase the amount of goggles that you can buy, because you are not limited to the ones that support your VTX, and you won't need to buy new goggles each time an update to a video transmission system is available. It will be great for everyone.

I remember when I first opened the box to my V1's, my heart just sank. They were ugly, they were big, you couldn't mod them, etc. I was like ok, don't panic, when you get them on your face, the outside "look" doesn't matter, the only thing that matters is the resolution. So I put them on and my heart just sunk further. It was like you were way back in a movie theater sitting in the last row. You saw all the "room" around you and it was hard to read the OSD, and worse, you had some air conditioner blasting right on your eyeballs. I flew them for 5 minutes, and never flew them again. It was like wearing a scuba gear brick on your face or facehugger from Ripley's Alien movie. Sitting in a box collecting dust along with my air units and vistas. What a total waste of money.

That break up with hdzero...I get all the time on 1 watt. I'm getting walksnail or dji. I tried different antennas on vtx and I upgraded to expensive patch and LR antennas on my vrx...no difference. I dont think hdzero is there yet.
@hristiantodorov3923 Жыл бұрын
I am using HDZero mainly because of the low latency and weight but Hdzero is not perfect yet. The edges are shimmering and this is not so noticable on the goggles but on a bigger screen it is definately very annoying. I hope they can fix this, I think this is some leftover trait from analog.

Josh here, I can explain a few things about walksnail for those who aren’t up to speed on it. Firstly, this Quad currently is running firmware version 23.23.4. This is not the most current version. OSD does not currently record onto DVR. It’s supposed to be something that’s added but as of the current firmware I’m using it’s not available. At the time of filming, I had an unknown to me, damaged ELRS antenna, so I flew relatively close to where I was sitting. This was not because of the walksnail vtx range. (I’ve since fixed this) The vtx does store footage on it, and it features much better video as it doesn’t need to send it to the goggles, so you’d see no breakup. You get 8Gb of storage for your videos. With the package (camera + vtx) you get an adaptor to plug the vtx into your pc via usb, and this often has a hard time reading it. For me it’s much easier to just take DVR footage off the goggles, but you could use footage from the vtx if you wanted to. Lastly, while I joke about being a beta tester of sorts, it’s really something to consider when buying walksnail or HDzero at the current moment. Both are good enough to become your main, but neither is without issues. Luckily though, both are constantly receiving attention and updates. I personally think that by the end of the year both of those two systems will be in a way better position than where they are now.

The up coming air unit O3 isnt new just from the new avata. Occusync 3.0 has been out for a while and on fpv feed first in the DJI FPV drone. Already when the dji fpv drone came out I was wanting that fpv system to be released as a new air unit. Thanks for the comparison. Personally I'll stick to dji, as I am already heavily invested in it. Important for further investments in dji will be the compatability between the old and new air units and goggles.

One thing rarely brought up in these reviews is the FOV inside the goggles. I dipped my toe into FPV with the FatShark analog and the only thing worse than the poor image was the tiny screen. I'm happier with the DJI FPV but have to wonder how these newer systems compare with FOV, not just image quality.

I still don't understand what constitutes a system to be analog, no one is breaking that down they just keeps saying that one is analog one is digital, does it make it analog because it is using physical antennas? but doesn't the digital use physical antennae as well? Walksnail has a full potential to kill DJI if they simply design a new camera using a sensor of larger format with larger aperture lens. DJI defacto cheated on FPV community by going above the design limits of community standards. So now defacto we have a new camera size standard "O3". There is nothing special about DJI O3 system, signal-nosie ratio and dynamic range are direct dependencies of pixels/sensor size and the amount of light collected by lens. In other words - larger camera equates to larger lens and larger sensor, which produces better image quality.
