Twelve days after the passing of Tony Bennett, Michael Moore shares his encounters with this truly great American. From the first time they met 33 years ago, to the times they often sat in attendance a grade school band concert, to Tony’s participation in the Selma March, his Bronze Star in the army in WWII for helping to liberate a Dachau concentration camp, to being there (along with Harry Belafonte) on the opening night of Mike’s Broadway show. For years, Tony was an accidental mentor to Mike and a source of wisdom on how to make it in this world. This is Michael Moore’s tribute to a good soul who meant a lot to many.

Michael….thank you and bless you for this episode. I am sitting in BC Canada under evacuation alert due to the horrendous fires and aggressively fighting anxiety after just finishing packing my life essentials in my car, calmly waiting for further instructions from our local regional authorities. Listening to your voice, your loving intelligent words, sharing your heart with stories of Tony…you took me to a safe place, brought memories of my Dad who was also his best fan and loved his song I Left My Heart, his favourite all his life. I have a music box I gave to my Dad years ago which I kept when he passed away 20 years ago which plays I Left My Heart and I play it as I pay homage to my Dad. We are the same age….grew up similarly….and your podcast and authenticity speaks to my heart and voila, I am not alone, crazy or too out there as you speak to truth and a reality I can identify, feel and know. You inspire me…kindred spirit and dear soul. BTW….movies are my passion…..Barbie! I was the first generation to own and grow up with Barbie, journeyed through life with her along with my daughter and now grandchildren. What a blast! I can’t wait for your podcast about it as you see to a depth most don’t and love deep genuine conversations…..can’t wait to chat with you which I do during and after your podcast, which I now call pod chat…lol. Bless you….be safe and know you are loved.

Thanks Michael, I was never going to see Barbie, I’ve never bought a Barbie for any girl child I knew. After hearing what you have told us I truly look forward to watching this epic. I have loved Harry Belafonte and Tony. I’m 80, Australian grandma, born in Germany in 1942. And I love you Michael, thanks for everything 🤗

Michael, you told a heartfelt beautiful story. That is what you're good at. My dad was involved in the civil rights movement and read The Flint Voice. My mom worked at the democratic headquarters in Jackson, MI. I remember RFK sent her a dozen roses in thanks! I hope to meet you some day. I love your podcast!

Thanks, Michael! Mr. Bennett was as talented as he was principled. How lucky you were to know him... and how lucky we all were to witness his luminance? 🎶 And thank you for praising BARBIE (2023). I loved it, too. It's probably way more for adults who grew up playing with such toys rather than for kids playing with them now. Either way, I'm glad it's enjoying such warranted success. #MichaelMoore #RumbleWithMichaelMoore #TonyBennett #RIPTonyBennett #TonyBennettRIP #HarryBelafonte #SelmaMarch #WWII #BronzeStarRecipient #GretaGerwig #Barbie #BarbieMovie #BarbieTheMovie

Michael, nice episode young man. Tony and Harry both are alive and well in their music that will live on forever. How blessed are we all who enjoy music...and TB was indeed a classic. The song of his that I sing in the shower on special times, is 'I want to be around' to pick up the pieces...that's a true 'hurten' song, that he knocks out of the park...Cheers to all the all time greats man! We are indeed blessed with these great people....keep up our great work sir!

Hi Micheal, now again such a surprise to get an advice to watch a movie I would never ever consider to watch. Barbie has always been the no go toy to me. Having four boys, I never was challenged to say no to a wish of a daughter. After your passionate prolog in this video , you´ve convinced me . Thanks again, now I listen to the "rest" of your clip.

I loved your anecdote about the band concert. Retired instrumental music teacher- yes, especially in schools built after WWII, the cafeteria can also be a music lesson room, a concert venue, a gym, an art classroom - A “Multi-Purpose Room.” A real auditorium is quite special. ❤❤

Thank you for setting me straight on the Barbie movie. There are so many boring cgi comic book action hero movies being made then I just assumed this must be like one of those but "for the girls" so I just tuned it out. You know, Barbie goes on her dream vacation with Ken. Now that I know the real story I want to see it.
