This seems to me a very important film. It is distressing and depressing… but if we are going to survive we have to face it rather than avoid it. It made me realise the extent to which we are deluded that we can find a way to continue living our lives in the same way. It is understandable, but it is a delusion. By the end of this film I realised the extent to which we will try anything… everything, to try and hold onto the quality of life that many of us are used to. The two most horrifying images for me were the horse being forced into a fat extraction machine, and the orang-utans hanging onto two dead trees with no other trees around. I find that I am more disturbed by what we are prepared to do to other species in order to keep our standard of living than I am by what we are prepared to do to each other. This is a very important and courageous film that most people will avoid. This shows the real ‘deep state’.
