He beat Magnus Carlsen using just 90 seconds | Sarana vs Carlsen | Commentary by Sagar Shah

It was a 3 minute game, but Alexey Sarana needed just half of his time to beat the World Champion Magnus Carlsen. How did he do that? Well, the Russian GM came up with some amazing bit of preparation for the battle. He first caught Carlsen in the opening and then built up a massive advantage. The end of the game is very amusing with Magnus moving his bishop to a square where it would have been lost.

Still confused me how he loses 5 times in several starting games, then unleash one of most outstanding performance on single day in world blitz championship. Beating dubov, naka, magnus in a row was mission impossible. And now this guy shine at airthings tour , too. If he can beat so, gukesh/arjun, magnus then naka it will be insane.

Why did Magnus give up, why did he even panic 😱 thinking “oh no, I have to move the bishop or I’m going to loose it.” He could of simply looked at the position and he would of realized he had kd8. He could of put his knight on d8 and the white rook would of been under attack. Had he captured the bishop he would of lost the rook on b7. Therefore he would of had to move the rook to b6 or b5 then Magnus bishop could of went to e7 like he planned without it being captured. I understand Magnus would of lost the d5 pawn but who cares, that’s better than loosing a bishop.
