Dennis Talks with Robert Porter. At the age of 33 Robert's eyesight became so bad he could not read road signs. He was constantly thirsty, light-headed, and had an A1c of 14.5. His eye doctor he'd better change his diet or he would go blind. Robert became desperate and began searching for answers. He found his answers in a strange place - KZbin! He radically changed his diet and within 3 months his A1c dropped 9 full points: from 14.4 to 5.3. Watch this dramatic interview and learn how he did it.

My A1c was 16.0!!!😱 3 years ago I was diagnosed with diabetes type 2. At night I was getting up every hour to pee, I couldn't stop drinking water, and my vision was blurring. I immediately dropped my carb intake to max 12g a day. 4 months later my A1c went from 16.0 to 3.8 and I lost 20 kg (44lbs). To this day my A1c is excellent. Low carb diet: I swear by it🙏🏾

2 years ago I weighed 430 lbs at 6'6" with an A1C 0f 14.2. I was wearing a 6xl t-shirt and I could barely walk up a flight of stairs. I started going to the gym and went on a low carb diet. I just celebrated my 59th birthday and I weigh 290 pounds and have an A1C of 4.2. It can be done with effort and determination. FYI I just wore my first 2xl shirt for the first time in over 30 years.

I'm on the same road! In October I was diagnosed type 2 with A1c of 17. My eye lenses were swollen - I got a glasses prescription. Neither the eye doctor or any doctor listened to me saying that I'm hoping that when my blood sugar is in control I'll have my vision back. It's back!!!! In November my A1c was 11. In December 7.9. I'm going to keep doing the right things - exercise, sleep, overnight fasting, watching my blood sugar results. I'm optimistic now.

My A1c was 16 (which I’m finding it impossible to find accounts of it being that high for ANYONE) my blood sugar was 490 . They’ve put me on insulin injections and a very strict diet. Videos like this help me to know that this is NOT a death sentence and it’s just very encouraging .I’m not defeated and I caused it so I can fix it. Please keep me in your prayers. 3 weeks ago I got a letter in the mail with test results of checking my A1C..it was 13,so my Doc prescribed me Metformin and said "change your diet".. I didn't eat lots of sugar and never drank a lot of sugary sodas, but I slipped 1 time and chugged gallons of Pepsi and a lot of breakfast juices after always drinking mainly water and milk, and I believe thats what did it..and one time I checked my blood sugar and it was 418,so thats when I asked my Doc to test me. My sugar level was 218 this morning,so its coming down and I plan on getting my A1C way down..+ my always perfect vision started blurring on me and can't read small print anymore without reading glasses,so its past time to get a handle on this.

@@nordonna417 Hi Norma, the key is to get your body moving and burning energy. I started slow with push ups, air squats and walking. I gradually worked my way up to lifting light weights and now heavy weights being 3 years since type 2. Depending on your current condition you can search here for things like 'light exercise' or 'beginner dance exercise' or whatever you find fun. Start slow and the key is consistency and gradually increasing your workload. Keep a journal of what you did for how long and how much resistance. Also, cut sugars and eat fresh foods and reduce breads and eat healthy proteins. I am not a doctor but this is what helped me. Good luck Norma!

I'm 67 now and I've been dealing with diabetes for over 20 years. I have had bypass heart surgery because of sugar spikes. I did not know that sugar spikes caused calcium spikes which caused blockages. I had the heart surgery and now I'm dealing with blocked arteries in my brain that surgery can not repair. I will eventually either have a stroke or a stroke and die from the blockages. I'm taking blood thinners now just so I don't get dizzy and fall down. If you are a diabetic, go to a person that can help you with the proper diet. I recently got my A1C down from 12 to 7 by eating homemade soup. I can't eat meat any more but sometimes I put fish or shrimp in my soup. I wish everyone luck in their journey.

I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in 2005. My wife put me on a strict “cardboard and water” diet. My first glucose check was 611… within 2 weeks of following my dietician’s diet and at that time taking 500mg of metformin morning and evening it dropped to an average morning fasting glucose of 113 so the diet works. In 2020, I retired after 41 years doing the same job and 13 days later, was in the hospital and found out I had congestive heart failure. I never took a sick day or missed a days work in those 41 years and was extremely confused. The doctors could not explain it and every test on everything else to be placed on the heart transplant list was normal if not above normal for a (then) 60 year old man. I lived in Wyoming most of my life, hiked at 10,000 plus feet to the tune of 100 plus miles a year, skied, fished, never smoked or drank and had no known history on my fathers side (my mother was a Hiroshima survivor so we have no knowledge of her family history)…. But… I listened to my doctors. Improved my eating and exercised as best as I could. On June 3rd 2021 I went into the hospital with a heart EF of 19% and they were going to place a ballon pump through my left leg into my heart to keep me alive until I could receive a transplant heart. The doctors wanted me to go to the Cath lab first and have fluid from around my heart removed that they noted on that days echo. They pulled 1972ml of fluid from around my heart (an unwanted record for the Houston Methodist Cath Lab) and everything started going back to normal. So they put me back in the cardio ward of the hospital and removed my PICC line, Milnirone pump and drip, all BP and Lasix meds and my EF was now 66%. Fast forward to today, I watch everything I eat… diet is everything IMHO… the cardio docs took me off Metformin (that stuff can be evil) and I now use a NPT protein based insulin (Humalin) morning and evening. I ride my bike 12 miles a day, kayak in the gulf and some of the local rivers and enjoy this second chance. My cardio doctor told me when I was released from the hospital… “we don’t know what made your heart go bad, nor do we even understand how a heart in the condition yours was in, had repaired itself, but we will chock it up once miracles of modern medicine” I looked at him and the 12 other doctors standing in my room and replied “I have had a lot of family and friends praying for me and I will take a miracle from God any day”. I believe that and I also believe if you do not maintain your diabetes… your other organs will cascade into failure and you will be rewarded with an early trip to the afterlife or whatever you believe. I watch your videos and thank you for all the information and inspiring people to stay healthy! God bless

Take care of yourself brother. Consider the words of Matthew 6:25-34, while the context of the scripture isn’t related to diet, we mustn’t be anxious about food as the body is more than food, drink and clothing but it is a creation to the glory of God and food, drink and clothing are to serve us not the other way around. God has provided for His creation, we must not allow ourselves to be idolatrous consumers but instead, enjoy His good gifts to His glory. Feed your body for nourishment, only occasionally to make your heart merry but keep in mind that your plate is your battlefield. Blessings

I just watched this video. 3 weeks ago I went to my PT after my work physical. As usual, sugars are high. He prescribed meds for diabetes and High Blood Pressure. I'm already on BP meds. He diagnosed me a type 2. It hit me hard, I was first very angry with him (new Doc) the old Doc gave me a chance to fix it a couple years ago but I resisted, So I did a lot of soulsearching. 2 days later I started low carb low fat no sugar. Instantly I saw results. Watching this video I did not realize that I was getting dizzy for about a month and that was one of the key indicators I was out of whack on my sugars. Once I got off the carbs, I started checking my glucose daily and changed my food intake and started on the treadmill all of that went away. I am only 2 weeks in and everything is dropping BP, BS, weight. This is just a start for me but a start for the rest of my life. Should have listened to the docs years ago..... BTW, I did not pick up the meds, changing this with food and exercize. Great videos, they are helping me very much.

Another Great Testimonial Dennis! I was hit with a T2D diagnosis at a walk in clinic in Houston with an A1c of 12.5 in August 2017. I’m a big guy at 6’4” 395lbs. I went with the vegetarian lifestyle I’d seen on KZbin and started daily exercise to try to reverse it. I have lost 40lbs but found that I still wanted meat and had been eating carbs all this time. Garlic bread is vegetarian right?! Lol. I found your videos online and decided to start eating less than 30 carbs a day on July 3, 2019 after seeing such great results like on this video. I’m doing intermittent fasting with no food from 8pm until to 2pm the next day. My fasting glucose is now around 120 and I plan on testing my A1c in Nov so it has time to adjust. My wife is a cute little thing but was diagnosed with fatty liver from eating with me! She’s now on this plan with me too. So who knows... I hope to be another one of your successful testimonials in the next few months. God Bless You for all of your work/ministry on KZbin sir.

Very insightful! Especially when he mentioned about eating his meal with soda and then with water. That sugar from soda makes you want and eat more than you normally would and that it turns off or suppresses the switch to say you’re full. As a very heavy fast food meal consumer, I always wondered why and how a fast food restaurant afford to sell their large coke for only a $1. They can’t be making much of a profit it if any so why are they essentially giving it away; as this guy reveals, it’s probably because it makes you more hungry and drive your appetite to consume more from them. Now, this makes all sense.

Doctors in the UK still don't advocate cutting carbs out of your diet. My husband is diabetic and has stopped going to his appointments with the diabetic nurse because they didn't give him any new advice on his diet, or how to reverse diabetes. Doctors in the UK would rather prescribe metformin or insulin rather than provide you with dietary advice. Diabetes is no longer a life sentence, don't put up with it make the change and take control of your body.
