My elderly neighbour had to go on a speed awareness course about five or six years ago, he had to drive quite a distance for it., he was doing 35 in a 30 apparently, entering town from a 40. They gave him the ten percent allowance (for error of the device) but clearly not the two mph discretion which both he and myself thought we got. He appealed but they wouldn’t have it. Yes he was exceeding the speed limit, thats true and undeniable, i think it was probably just a momentary lack of speed awareness, hence the course, still better than three points i suppose but to this day i still think he should have had a stern warning /something through the post to that effect. I have driven with him a couple of times and there was no driver more steady or safer than him. I can’t recall if he was charged for the course but it wouldn’t surprise me if he was.

It’s illegal to park on the pavement in the uk under uk law so the validity of anyone caught speeding should contest the ticket due to it being awarded by the police acting in an illegal way to obtain the conviction. To uphold the law you have to be with in the law yourself. These are civilians and know the square root of nothing about law

I'm pretty sure there needs to be a road sign, at some distance, before his van declaring cameras operating in the area, otherwise, like him being parked illegally, all fines issued would be null and void. Rule number one, always appeal any ticket, there's nearly always a reason they are unenforceable, simply because nothing is maintained anymore, be it yellow lines on roads, or camera calibration, and of course road signage is the biggest loophole for most fines..

There was one on the A405 watford park on the soft grass verge... churned up all the grass, big snurge marks. There used to be a lay-by but it was filled in. It was not maked up either, plane van. I dash camed it, if its illegal parking, may report it.
