Faerodyn Moto exactly my thoughts.. good luck to yammie pube if he didn’t have a timeframe to claim the prize in his terms and conditions. If Brooke comes forward tomorrow I’d be pretty sure he’d have a fair case to sue.. i mean what did he wait, two weeks 🤦‍♂️

peepoe78 don’t think there is any real grounds to sue, sounds American of you too automatically resort to a lawsuit if you don’t get your way. The fact that he was given time and made public that he had to respond ASAP, it’s fair game.

The Patreon page is where all the terms and conditions are as well as how to enter for free. Patreon has documentation on raffles and giveaways too. Papa yam looks to be doing his best to comply. The response time is there now. I don’t remember if it was always there but it seems reasonable that you get a week since the drawing date is well known to all entrants. Anyway just my 2 cents

I'm in Canada , coulda got a big bike cuz we can here . Instead I got a cbr125 and it's great , couple times where I'm glad it wasn't like a 600 or else I'm sure it woulda tossed me off . Very fun and forgiving the 125s are . Still has great acceleration and enough top speed , shouldn't be needing to go faster than a 125 can go if you are just learning . Idk why I'm still typing this is getting long for a KZbin reply but yea I'm sure you will enjoy .

I've had my R3 since July 1st this year. The biggest downfall on it is (agree with the yams here) highway riding. I rode 2 up with it last week. Definitely loses its torque. Ive put 800 miles on it so far. did the first oil change myself. I'm consistently getting ~60 MPG even with mixed street/highway/rev limiter. I'm happy with it. It's a blast in the curves. And, with how relaxed the ergonomics are for a street bike, Its COMFORTABLE.

@reginacarr4633

Jklmnopski - I agree! I have an R3, and use it to commute to work and ride for fun. I was driving about 120 miles (2-4 hours of driving time) per day. The cost of gas in a month for my car paid for the monthly bike pmt and the insurance. I like it, it’s affordable, is economical, it’s comfortable...it works well for me and what I’m using it for!!

I chuckled at the comment "Chances are you won't have access to a group of bikes when you are starting out." Before I started street riding, both of my parents rode, and they owned just shy of a dozen bikes, that included a Yamaha XS 650, 920 Virago, and an XS Eleven, a CB 550, 750, and two GL 1000s, a GS 750, GSX 600, and a KZ 1000. So yes, I had options when I started riding on the street, after 11 years on the dirt. I already had a Suzuki 400 SP, and CB 550 project, one an Enduro, the other a street bike, when I got my M permit.in 1991, and was riding the other bikes less than a month later. Most of my senior year, and in college, I rode either the XS Eleven or one of the Goldwings.

Have almost daily ridden my 2016 R3 since March of 2018, out of necessity mostly, in California riding to work and school 180+ miles roundtrip for a long while and always had fun on my rides. 60+ MPG (Except on weekends lol) Have a little over 18k on her, a second rear tire (front coming soon tho), and could use a chain soon. Done almost all the maintenance myself at Yamaha's intervals and she still kicks strong. Just moved to Houston and haven't ridden as much the last week but still is the main transport when going out without my roommate. Has enough power to be fun, but not enough to get me in trouble. Loads of fun.

Really important message that applies even to those of us who have been riding for decades! I grew up on dirt bikes and when I decided it was time to move to a street bike I was SURE I wanted/needed a big bagger to pound out all of those weekend long rides with my now ex wife on the back. I had 3 iterations of that bike over the years and finally sold my last one 4 years ago thinking my riding days were over as I never actually took those rides I imagined I would. Then last year when Covid hit and I was home watching a bunch of KZbin channels like this one the bug got me again but this time I got a little 865cc Speedmaster and absolutely fell in love with riding again on those short 1-3 hour back road blasts in the country side! Its perfect for the kind of riding I actually like to do and not so great for those all day 2 up cruises I thought I was into. Put 7k miles on here in less than a year already and I live in weather dependent PNW! Point is don’t go out and blow all your money on a hot new bike until you get to know the kind of rider you actually are! You may just find that expectations are NOT the same as reality!

As an owner of two liter bikes, I can say that I would love a little bike as a commuter. More than anything, those kinds of bikes are remarkably practical. If you get one of the good ones, you could bet that it will be reliable, fuel efficient, and fun. Also, I'd love to have a small bike like that so I could teach other people how to ride. But with that all being said, I would die before I got rid of my R1. Haha

To be fair a phone mounted to the 'bars for new riders is a terrible idea. If you really need GPS use an in ear headphone under the helmet for directions, the phone is a massive distraction. Also the 650s tend to be good for extra torque but far less wind protection unless you get something faired (and you're still more upright), so there's a trade-off there too.

I am also looking at the '19 390 Duke for my first motorcycle. Jimmy have you noticed any of the overheating issues that are reported with the 390? Is it improved for the 19 model? Ive read to upgrade the fan and run engine ice. I'd appreciate some suggestions and feedback on you're decision to go with the 390 and thoughts so far? It's such a hard decision, there's so many good ones. I'm down to the Z400, KTM 390 or could be swayed to something like the R3 but I'm typically looking the more upright position. I'm about 5'7 and 170 lbs. Yammie what are your thoughts on a great first motorcycle? I don't want to get something to small and be bored after 3-6 months, but something with room to grow into it, but not a death trap either :)
@jimmytorello7041
@jimmytorello7041 5 жыл бұрын
Doug Clarke , I’ve only had the 390 for a week but it doesn’t seem to have any issues so far. Maybe too early to say but I’m happy with it. I also wanted an upright position and I’m mostly just commuting to work and taking short weekend rides. I’ve always liked the style of the 390 Duke and now with ABS and the TFT display, I was sold. It gets great reviews and wins all the comparison match ups so it was an easy decision for me. I’ll keep you updated on any issues.

Honestly with having a ninja 300 as my only vehicle I can't wait to upgrade to some sort of 600. Yeah the 300s are comfortable and easy going for my commute to classes, but every time I am on a road with a speed limit above 50 it gets sketchy. Tried to pass someone going 50 in a 60 the other day, dropped it to 4th gear and full twist and I still just could not get the speed to pass safely. Got halfway past the car but it was just taking too long and someone was coming so I had to drop back again and got separated from my boyfriend.

When I decided I wanted to participate in the giveaway, I read everything and saw the winner would be chosen around July 11 and made sure I wouldn't somehow be off the grid around the time.

I daily ride my Bagger, long trips, bar hopper , grocery store. Its super practical. If im gonna spend $21k, it better be practical and comfortable, plus the aftermarket is insane! But I get it... youd never even consider trying one. Btw, my first bike was a 2001 GSXR1000 back in 2009 , always loved that bike from the fist time i saw it in the Fast and the Furious. finally bought one ... I freakin hated it.., couldn't ride it for more then 10 min. before i started to cramp up. now, Ill destroy a few hundred miles in a day... its a different way of life. a bit slower more enjoyable way of life. Im 33 lol

I wonder if the cops will let me ride a turbo busa with an A1 license if I tell them that I'm subbed to Papa Yam. I'm sure the 3 weeks that I've had my YZF 125R are good enough that I could handle a turbo busa ;)

"60, 70, 80 mpg"....Never have been able to get 60 mpg on 300's no matter how I ride. Currently have a Ninja 400 and have gotten 56 mpg, still in the break in period on it. It's true that they're generally efficient, but for awesome MPG I would recommend the CBR500R for 60+ mpg. These small class bikes are now being made for affordable track use and/or awesome handling in twisties. Just my .02.

2013 Ninja 300, 45 zones mostly, lots of top rpm pulls, full exhaust and tune, gets 55-60mpg. Are you in elevation or was it modded at all?

Got a feeling Brookes is going to be Pissed! Also, wouldn't expect him to support Patreon anymore lol. I would imagine there is a clause that allows the grace period to expire when not being able to contact the winner, if not you may be giving him the R3 or SV.

Funny that the RC 390 that you Americans get is much more costlier than us, your indian counterparts. And still, even on your new bike, the blinkers are still the way it used to be back in 2010. India's KTM'S are little easier on the pocket and get the best tech along with the cosmetics as well, I have a 16 RC 390 which is considered the best among all the 390s that have been out yet, and my blinkers are on the mirrors which look slick af

Which year? It's a shame Honda has discontinued the monster 600RR which counts as the middleweight god's along with the R6 and the Daytona, and instead put out a corny 70-horse-ish 650R instead. Just an inline four of namesake.

@@grimmywizard yeah... #%$* the 650R. Mine is a 2017. I love this little gem of a bike. It's kinda funny, cause the the guy at the dealership was actually pushing me to buy the 650R . ...haha... no WAY!
@grimmywizard
@grimmywizard 4 жыл бұрын
@@TheJoshRed oh man, the dealership did try to rip you off with that fake disguised weak CBR didn't they? 😂 You're lucky to have the 600RR man, here in India we don't have that, only the shitty 650R. I'm still to step it up though, I'm on my second bike right now which is a KTM RC 390. It's nowhere near your beast Josh, but it's enough for me. And I'm Hella sure I could keep up with you in the twisties. Where you from by the way?
