I was a LB7 Duramax guy, great engine just to expensive and annoying to work on. I picked up a 1994 ram 3500 12v cummins flat bed. Best decision ever.

duramaxes are cool if you want a japanese engine designed by people that cant even figure out that a lift pump is necessary. The cummins is by far the best medium duty diesel motor ever made. When you consider that you can make 700 horsepower out of a stock internal 12 valve and daily it reliably, you just can't even call anything else comparable

@@fucksusanwojcicki LB7 was a solid engine. Injectors were just horrible though. I never did use aftermarket ones on my duramax but the OEM injectors only lasted 100,000 if I was lucky before they crapped out

@@haydona1845 are you defending a motor designed with bad injectors that were placed under the valve covers which themselves were buried under both intake and exhaust components causing them to be a multi-thousand dollar job just in labor? instead of a job costing injector price plus a couple hundred? Even the 7.3's retarded design doesn't put injectors under the valve covers

our 3500 5.9 3rd gen was getting 20 mpg on the high way till the engine blew now it gets 15 high way also its tuned for fuel economy

You can call me a liar, but! I've had a few Cummins that would do over 20mpg consistently, 96 dually man trans 2wd 2 door with sub 70,000 miles would get 24 mpg to 26 mpg and a 98 12 valve ext cab auto transmission with less then 130,000 miles that would average about the same and ONE time only I set the cruise at 52 miles per hour on a 200+ trip and got just barely over 28 mpg I've had several others but mpg was close but not always consistent all 2wd though

GOD DAMNIT i wish i would have hit you up before i sold my frame swapped all black everything murdered out suburban on an extra cab dodge frame on 35's with a tuned p-pump Cummins running a HT3B compound setup making 65psi mated to a NV5600 with a 5in straight pipe. It made well over 500 at the wheels and absolutely smoked the fucking doors off of new fords, like 4 bus lengths on a 40 - 100 roll. I did a longarm front end with every synergy steering component and a D80 disc rear end with a locker and airbags with on-board air. Custom front bumper and a SUPER sick tire carrier rear bumper with back up camera. it had amazingly clean interior. There was literally nothing left to be done to the truck it was a fucking monster. Since my truck was on the dodge frame i didn't have to do a body lift the cummins actually fit in the bay better than it fit under the dodge hood. you could get to the rear head studs with absolutely zero issues. It was by far the best Cummins truck i have ever driven. With the 3.53's I could accelerate from 80 without downshifting out of 6th and was still risking traction. I miss that truck everyday, in fact i sold it almost exactly a year ago, april 9th

Our 1999 461 290GD G Wagen with the 2.9 diesel and slush box automatic transmission gets 24.xx MPG, tank in tank out. All factory spec. Imperial gallons mind you.

I have a 94 GM 6.5L diesel turbo and never let me down, it has 230,000 miles.

I know he said he had the GMC rear end, but my 1998 12v had 4:11 ratios. If the ratio is the same it should keep the same speed. I could never seem to keep the speed sensor operational in my mopar trans. I was just grateful the damn trans worked, because most fail.

I have a '99 Dodge 3500 24v, nv5600, 4.10s I converted to SRW and have 270k on it. When the rest of the Dodge body falls apart I'd love to swap it into a 90s burban. My mom had a 95 k2500 burb with the 454, 48 gallon tank and barn doors. I'd imagine you can pick up 90s suburbans pretty cheap.
