Hey Rich. You may want to double check that the vents on the inside of the sea can are not taped over. I use to pick up and deliver them and for the most part they were covered for some reason. And they wouldn’t allow the can to vent and it would rain condensation and allow mold growth on what ever is stored inside them.

A skid loader or small tractor is so necessary for anyone who lives in the country. I bought a skid almost 15 years ago and I could not live without it anymore. I don’t put piles of hours on it by any means but when you need it you need it. I use it for cutting wood and moving snow and dirt and everything in between 👍

It’s crazy how fast a guy runs out of room. 6 years ago I bought a little 7 acre hobby farm and it’s got 40’x75’ machine shed that I originally thought about renting out because I thought I’ll never fill it up. Here we are 6 years later and yep it’s full of all my stuff now 🤣
@donaldendsley6199
@donaldendsley6199 6 ай бұрын
that's because you named it a shed, shop, or garage. If you build a building with no windows or doors, and name it any of those things then within 5 years it will explode because of all the stuff that accumulates in it.

Not sure what it's like in Canada, and maybe I missed it if you did cover it, but here in the Midwest, these containers sweat, producing condensation in the containers causing the contents to rust. You'll want to vent them somehow or a lot of desiccant.
@stans5270
@stans5270 7 ай бұрын
I agree with you about the "sweating" problem. The sweating is mainly from ground moisture seeping up. This will be exasperated because his shop shades these containers compounding the problem.

Same problem here, definitively needs to have some form of ventilation and/or heating. I solved the problem by routing overboard air from house ventilation into the container, keeping it dry and adding a little bit of warmth
@connerlabs
@connerlabs 7 ай бұрын
I have a workshop in one. I believe the problem is when the container is opened on a warm, wet day in winter, humid air gets trapped inside, and then at night the ceiling gets cold and the moisture condenses on it. Insulating the ceiling helped.

Rich, We Have been storing cars here in southern Ontario for decades. The best advise I can give you is to place lots of Dryer sheets around in your vehicles, and also go to your local dollar store and get some moisture grabber containers. We have found this to work the best for both rodents and rust..

Wherever there’s holes that mice could get in on something like that try stuffing the holes full of dryer sheets. I know it sounds crazy and I thought the same when I heard it too but it works, they seem to hate dryer sheets for some reason and leave it alone. That’s what we do with our ice fishing houses in the summer when they’re stored in my mouse infested machine shed and there is rarely ever any sign of mice getting in 👍

If you have space, a good way to use these containers (if you have 4) is to take two, make a footing for them such that they sit spaced so that the top outer corners are spaced by the length of a container, drop two containers on that, then put two more such that they bridge over. You then buy a tent for the gap and have a huge inner space to store stuff and 4 containers which can be connected by ladders internally. You can also cover the whole thing with siding and a conventional roof. It will never fall apart. Containers are meant to take on loads that are Nth time larger than whatever you could stuff inside and a building like that. edit would like to point out that with this storage method, you can also add walkways around inside and out and have space to work on tall machinery like excavators.
