2:38 6.0 is far better than the 6.4. They need headstuds, gasket, egr delete, oil cooler and few other things. 6.4s are pretty much non-rebuildable; they're throwaway engines.

@wickedb165 жыл бұрын
Wade you are correct 6.0 studded and deleted is the most reliable light duty v8 diesel besides the 7.3
@rondyechannel13995 жыл бұрын
Not true! The 6.4 fixed all the mechanical problems of the 6.0. The new emission requirements wreck the 6.4. Over fueling the rear two cylinders to heat the DPF only washed down the cylinders and filled the oil pan with fuel destroying the engine. My deleted 6.4 is at 299,000 and about to roll over. No issues other than leaky radiator hose coolant fix. That said I have a 5.9 bus ready if I ever need it. Love the power of the tuned 6.4!!!!!
@larrysheftel83805 жыл бұрын
So why do I say 6.0 6.4 junk. My 96 Dodge manual 4x4. How old is it? I only two ball joints replaced two belts. Still on stock water pump clutch and everything else This truck I give it hell and back and 4 wheel the hell off road it All friends that did buy the Ford's said never again . Why should you need to fix the motor of a diesel . At 100.000 miles ?
@rondyechannel13995 жыл бұрын
@@larrysheftel8380 The issue is the DPF!!!!!! A stupid poorly designed contraption that sent extra fuel into the rear cylinders for heat to regen. It didn't work and only filled the crankcase with fuel which makes a shitty lubricant. Wore out everything, so yes, junk by then. Throw it away. If you get rid of the EGR and DPF BEFORE it eats the motor they will last. I'm not comparing to the 5.9 which I still have in a 1989 1 ton 4X4 from new. My deleted 6.4 has right at 300,000 and NO problems. After all the bad press I also have an early 24V 5.9 sitting in a low mileage bus if I need it. The 6.4 is quiet and powerful and so far very reliable, but it has been deleted since new. Others have the same experience. Others let the fuel oil in the crankcase wear out everything from the rockers down. It was famous for 'making oil' on the dipstick.

Ya Boi CJ mine is stage 3 bullet proofed, new heads, egg delete, head studs, turbo cleaned & refurbished, upgraded oil cooler, all that good stuff. Running a mild tow tune right now and everything is great. The 6.0 kinda sucks of the factory floor but they can be made into great trucks for the fraction of the price of a new 6.7
@someone40295 жыл бұрын
@@coltonjacobs5383 delete everything. I had mine done by a gentleman in South Carolina that specializes in the "bulletproofing." The term is used loosely and means different things to different people. Bulletproof was trademarked as a brand. Worryproofing these bastards the right way includes higher voltage ficm sp if it does start to fail at lower voltage you aren't destroying injectors before it can be replaced, balance and clean turbine side vanes, deck the heads flat to remove any existing warp, ARP head studs instead of bolts, blue spring upgrade, service HPOP, stock or black head gaskets if necessary, stand pipes, dummy plugs, hardened valve guides/sleeves/seals, coolant flush (the whole expensive process with VC-9, etc.), second oil filter, a coolant filter and bypass, a tuner or gauges for monitoring, (just go with tuner to get rid of CEL from EGR delete). Some recommend a pytometer, but exhaust gas temp shouldnt be an issue on a 6.0. Everything listed and added ti the price of a used 6.0 is still cheaper than 6.7 by far, and far more reliable than a deleted 6.4. The 6.4 is fast as shit, but more expensive to repair that engine.
