Nothing Rollo did was ever right and always for his selfish gain because he had insecurity problems. Betray your own brother on multiple occasions even before Ragnar was famous and was still a farmer & killing his own people to gain riches and glory never made him truly happy. He missed being a Viking. Even when he went to help Ivar in taking Kattegat & snuck away to see Bjorn & Lagertha he wanted nothing more than Bjorn to kill him, but again to play victim in his own self pity. He may act big as he gained riches, a wife who only expects him for something he’s truly not and the only good thing that came from Rollo were the innocent children he bared.
